Finally....Da new rig..

If there was going to be a clearance issue then it would be with the suspension cycled this way. And it all clears with enough room I could easily lower the shaft from the motor 1/2" with a tad bit of room to spare.

So I got the Y pipe made and it turned out WAY better than I would have thought it would.

So since the drivetrain is all poly mounted I didn't want rubber mounts on the exhaust that would let it flop around. So I have a ton of these poly inserts but they are an oddball size so I had to machine 2mm off them for the closest material I had.

Somehow I got everything to fit. So I used 2" tubing (as you can see by the driveshaft clearance I had to run 2"). Now the beauty of doing 2" and its 16 gauge tubing it fits nicely in my die for my bender so I was able to give it some small bends. It worked perfect.

So I will be bouncing around on the rig until another batch of parts show up.

But I got the rear tail plate cut and mounted and holes for the new lights. These are 3 way lights (park/brake/backup)

I decided to change it up a bit since I am waiting for more parts to arrive so I decided to get the tranny and fuel lines ran. I have always been a huge fan of secured lines with zero rub points.

Next I made the fuel filter mount that also incorporates a holding fixture for the lines. I chose to put it where it was serviceable without tearing the car apart to access it.

Next I made the fuel pump mount. Its mounted with a nice thick rubber pad to help with noise. Got the lines done up to it and out.

The next part was a little tricky and required building something rather interesting. Due to the clearance I had to make a cradle of sorts that mounts to the tranny to mount the lines to.

It was also rather snug at the driveshaft but fits like a glove. So as you can see its pretty elaborate but the lines are super secure and fits nicely with the tunnel cover in place.

My plan was to get the powersteering pump mount done but it seems the pulley I had was wrong so had to order that. So for a while I will be bouncing around a bit. So I figured it was time to get the 4 point harness mounts done. I had to clearance the rear lower floor pan for the inner lower mounts. Got all the tabs made and mounts done--its got belts so another thing off the list.

Like I stated early on my main intention is trail use and its being built more towards that side of it. So one thing I need is a place to store/carry my tools and suck and the back is the goal. So I started by pulling the rear winch and rotating the release handle down and then bent up a bottom that totally follows the contour within 1/4 to 1/2" trying to gain every square inch I can.

The base is 1/8" and it was a workout to put those few bends in it.

Time to play with cardboard again,lol. So I got a good idea of hose I wanted it by this point. The front is sloped pretty good to give room for air flow for the trans cooler.

So cut each panel out and tacked into place and then burned it all in---my tig is getting better but still not to where I wanna be.
