Raising drivetrain as much as possible, redoing all upper mounts, and probably have to do some work on the steering to get the ram to clear the crank, or else have to move the motor back a little of need be.

Gonna do a little work on the rear so I can fit another tank under where the single tank is now. There's alot of wasted space where the exhaust is run, and its way to far out to mason jar from evarts to need to worry about running empty ever.

yup. these little bitty buggies u gots ta make every inch count! sittin low is where its at..my treps come as high as my valve covers even with 7" of uptravel..

Just signed up. Nice looking Buggies on here. I live in Fairbanks Alaska. Been running my buggy for the last 3yrs and finally smashed the cab on a flop in Aug this past summer. Figured it was time to upgrade. Currently building a 408 stroker motor for her, rebuilt the trans to the hilt and finished the exo and cab interior.

Someone posted a link to this site on Pirate. I am a big fan of the Bustedknuckle films. I don't really wheel that way but I think its pretty cool to watch. Some of the tube work and design on the buggies is amazing. Its a little more about survival out here. Wouldn't want to snap a wheel off 50-100 miles from the trailer.

Thanks. I am liking the builds on this site. You southern boys are crazy! LOL! I love the style. We need a little more skin to hold some heat up here. A cab truck makes it a little easier.
I started my thread on Pirate as just a normal build thread and started posting my trip reports in there. I like writing about my adventures. I don't go on day trips. At a minimum I go for 3 days. It kind of found a following so i kept doing it. I've been getting better at pictures and bought a GoPro this winter. I am hoping to work on more video footage and editing. Pictures and video really don't do the place justice. The country is HUGE! Even in my truck I feel small. It can feel overwhelming when you get way out there. It would be easy to die or get stuck out there with no way of contacting anyone. I have been getting better at stocking up on survival gear for trips. I started taking my gold prospecting gear with me last year and its cool getting out to places others can't and finding great color. Having a truck you can haul so much gear. You need to haul alot of gear here in Alaska. You never know whats going to happen. You may be 35-100 miles from your trailer but from your trailer it might be a 3hour drive to the closest town.

Still a work in progress but here is my low budget junk

That Alaskan wheeling looks awesome. I would love to do that!

They are actually from Sandy Oregon which is 30 miles from my hometown where I grew up. I wouldn't give them too hard of a time. The Discovery Channel scripts all the drama the way they put it together. From what I have seen they aren't really doing much different than other prospectors I see up here. I do wonder about the lack of research and the plan to how they are finding the gold. It is not hard to talk to an old timer and find out some tricks. Maybe I take it for granted living here for 17yrs but If I was tossing the kind of money at it as they are my research would be alot more crisp. I wouldn't have touched a machine without drilling. That is dumb that they didn't know that. To me it seems obvious. In Oregon you have to dig test holes before you build a house to see what the soil is like. There is no difference with gold prospecting unless you are working in a stream.

where ya from? i recongnize stair step and the trail 5 hill climb, raush creek is one of our go to places

he is in michigan. those pictures are from canada. there is a few of us building some southern style rigs.2 will be at the gorilla run.look for the monster black 6x6 totter home.will be a rockwellrig on 54 's w a supercharged 6.0 and a yellow buggy with a 572 in it. we are trying to step it up so we can come down and hang with you guys.
the blue buggy pictured is mike r.it has portals 49's and a aluminum 5.3. works real good.
