Zzzzz....
Haven't seen it in here yet, so:
Race #5 at Windrock is coming up Oct 27!
Registration is here: https://ecors.wufoo.com/forms/ecors-...tion-windrock/
Registration will open 10/8/12 at 8pm. Starting order is based on qualifying Friday afternoon, NOT registration order.
The ECORS website will be updated soon with the proper info, schedule, etc.
As teams register, I'll send out a mass email with all relevant information for the race.
Here are some specifics:
Due to land use, logistics, insurance, etc., entry fees have increased by $15 per entry for this event.
Each team, racer, co-driver, etc. is responsible for their own land use fees, camping, etc. This means each person on your team must have a land use permit. Last year ECORS covered this for you and your team. To help keep initial costs down for you guys, we didn't do that this year and are letting everyone cover that themselves. You bring 25 people with you, that is on you. If you only brin 3 people with you, your costs will be less.
Camping is NOT included, even if you plan to camp in the pits. You will be subject to the typical Windrock Park primitive camping rules and rates.
All of this is to help lessen the work and burden on ECORS during the event and to keep each team's overall costs down. If you want to be extravagant or want to bring 30 people with you, that is fine, but they will need to cover the costs. This keeps ECORS' overall costs down and the entry fees lower.
Insurance is a little higher for this race. We had to increase the entry fees slightly to cover this added cost for this venue. Logistics will increase as well, which add costs. A small $15 increase in entry fees was added for this event to help cover these added expenses for this race.
We will be utilizing the same course as last year but with a few updates and improvements. We'll keep the hard sections that were eliminated due to rain, rain, and more rain. We learned from last year and require a winch on all vehicles. Regardless of weather, we are going to keep the same course that we set and as it was last year. Improvements are being made on the course to keep it from being a total mud bogg but expect that you will get wet and dirty!
For the B and C guys, this will be a very tricky course as we are keeping the rocks this year which were eliminated last year. These are very tricky and I believe there were only 2 or 3 people that traversed them last year before we eliminated them. There is also a short and steep loose dirt hill climb that will remain for this year. About 3 people tried it with moderate success. They made it up 80% of the way as it had never ever been attempted before. With the dirt loose, it'll wear down and get rutted in pretty quick through the weekend.
I expect everyone to winch at least once in the race as it will likely be our most difficult race to date.
The access road for the PITS has had a lot of work done to it within the last year and we will, once again, use this as the main access for the PITS. Spectators and racers will be able to come in and out that way as well as use the access area at the top of the ridge, just past the primitive campground area.
ECORS will be in Cabin #10 if you need assistance while on site. When you get to the park, be sure to enter the Windrock Park area (take a right off of the main road). At the campground office, we will be set up to register all teams for racing. At that time, you will also be able to settle up with Windrock for camping and land use/access permits.
As the map is finalized, I will send it out to everyone.
Thanks and we hope to see you all at Windrock!!!!
