how many people can ride in the cab of those freightliners, also if you dont mind me asking, whats the operating expense on one of those, as in mpg, tag, ins, etc, and do they require a cdl???????

I own a oilfield hotshot company and I bought 2 of them to try and yea they are pricey at first but I actual save money operating them over a one ton ... Oil changes every 10k miles cost the same as getting a oil change every 5k in a dually .... Tires last men10X ad long ad do brakes ... The 112 model are air brakes just like a big truck so yes you need a CDL. MPG is around 8-9 pulling a load which is better than 6-7 in my fords .... Plus those trucks will last me 5X as long as a one ton. It has buckets up front but u could seat 4 in the back seat

Amen brother, theres nothing wrong with that .Thats a good looking truck . Im back in a truck payment and ask my self every month why did i do this.
 
first one stock 93 dodge 3500 second one 01 excursion 7.3 4in exhoust cold air and bully dog programer.

thanks for the info, ive saw few of those type trucks at the local dragstrip and dirt track and was wandering if they had to have cdl, i dont there is any way around it though
 
The law may have changed on this but I don't think so. If it is a not for hire private coach or registered as a motor home no CDL required. Thanks to all of the politicians that have family or friends that show horses for this.

I am not sure so don't just go on what I say. I do have some friends with race car haulers that are commercial trucks and trailers registered as RV's with no CDL. CDL is not that hard to get anyway hell you can get it with a 1 ton and a 16 ft trailer. The hardest part is the air brakes test which is easy if you study a little.
 
Not for hire and under 26k gvwr, or under 26k GCWR, CDL is not required. If it weighs over 26k, whether its GVWR or GCWR, or the trailer you are pulling is rated above 10K a CDL is required. If a CDL is required and you have air brakes, air brake endorsement is required. Motorhomes and rigs pulling RV style campers are exempt from needing a CDL (this is all per Florida CDL handbook). Also if not for hire you are exempt from needing to stop at the scales, or required to keep a log book as long as you don't exceed 14hrs of driving time without an 8hr rest (this last sentence I may be wrong on the specifics)

my bus is tagged as an RV and has air brakes. the DOT pulled me over for a bald tire and only ask me for a tag receipt, drivers, and insurance card. Never said any thing about CDL, just asked if it was scary to load the truck on. Just my 2 pennies
 
Yea. I got a fat dumb buddy with Freightliner motorhome, air brakes and all the big ****! he has no cdl because its a personal rv
