Rockwells make your sac swell!

Yes I am. Going to a stroked Windsor with big aluminum heads so I'll have to upgrade my shafts before I do that though Travis was pulled up behind me a few weekends ago at windrock. Bad unit right there now. :woot: :****:

Ford power right here boys :flipoff1:

Is there ever a reason a would need to take the side plate off, with the third member still on the axle?
I could leave this gusset off. If I need to.

See your still thinking like you've got tons, it's a Rockwell. Set it and forget it.Very seriously doubt you will have to take that cover off ever. Congrats your going to love them by the way

I've never had to take it off on the axle. I believe that is some sort of access port for pressing the gears out the side, which you wouldn't do with the chunk still in the axle.

Got this new to me rig and I got it with a broken rear shaft. So tarter tearin into it to get the broke shaft out that was broke off in the chunk. When I got it the hubs were flipped in narrow and I got to noticing the backs of the studs were not ground on like you normally see to run narrow the hubs had been faced down almost flush with the flange which I thought was pretty cool but I'm going to flip them back wide. But anyhow whoever built the axles flipped the chunk to get a more straight driveline got lazy. They marked and center punched the housing but never done anything else and just put it together with 5 bolts and stuck another that was too small in it just for looks I guess. Anyway I've had to bust out my jig and finish the job. Just thought I'd share.

I'm scrounging together money for some ouverson 16 spline.
Anybody brake these?
Is it necessary to get violator joints? What becomes the weak link, shafts or joints?

And lets see some more rockwell rigs!

I have the 16 spline ouversons , never had an issue, Randall key has em in blaze and they hold
Up great as well , my buddy runs em in a heavey yota truggy with 47" ltbs and never had an issue, bang for the buck I don't think you can go wrong, I have stock joints in them too, I have 475hp and never worry about axles breaking

Good to hear I have two sets of stock shafts but while I had axle apart for welding and shaving to go ahead and shove some new axles in it as well. I've heard of ouverson giving "discounts" if you break and buy more. Any truth to that?
Has anyone on Hardline had first hand experience with broken ouverson 16 spline shafts?

There's no rubber o-ring on the Ujoint caps so the needles are exposed and that's how they get grease , I've seen people not run boots but any dust or muddy water or debris will enter the knuckle and contaminate you grease, I've heard of people useing a different spicer Ujoint but I have no idea what the part number is or if it's even true

Actually the newest version of rockwell joints DO have seals. But the spindle and kingpins still aren't sealed so there's always that issue. Some people don't run boots with the new sealed joints.

I have twisted the splines on them, the 16 spline chrome moly by randy. As for warranty, they told me sorry go pound sand even though my vehicle at the time did not exceed the limits of their 16 spline shafts. Morale of the story don't bank any warranty on 16 spline shafts which is why I have the 2 inch shafts now. the only way he will warranty the 2 inch shafts is if you also buy Ouverson's chrome moly u joints to run in the shafts..
There are plenty of people that have broken the 16 spline shafts when in a rear steer front just so you know.
