New TJ Buggy build. Still prefer the jeep look after all these years.

Gotta love a jeep!

Your going to have a lot of wheel speed with the crawl ratio your going to have, fab work looks great on this tho.

Well that's what I thought too, but I drove a friends rig with th400/3.8/4.56 gears and really liked his 2nd gear because was low enough to crawl and still had good speed at max rev. So I took a gamble and just matched his 2nd gear for my first and at same time got a faster trail gear in 2nd than his 3rd. Wheel speeds at 6500 rpm came to 30 mph in first and 55 in 2nd. He never stayed in his 1st gear for anything all day so maybe it will be ok

Love the build. Are you making your own box brackets or buying them somewhere?

bought all my frame tabs, just not worth the time if you dont have the right tools, front tabs from ruffstuff and rear tabs from bluetorch

my .02 cents I'm running a 5:1 Atlas II with 4.56's and a C4 trans, its a little to low in 1st gear but 2nd is about perfect.

Who knows what will be right! :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

Ive compared a ton, some like mine, some like yours. Everybody has their own preferences.

With my set up im looking at : 1st- crawl ratio of 24, 10mph @ stall and 30 mph @6000 rpm; 2nd gear- crawl ratio of 14, 52mph @6000 rpm.

With the 3.8, 1st gear only went down to 24mph. i couldnt imagine being lower than that. Hell thats the same as granny low(6.68) in a 4speed on the highside.

I honestly dont see why you cant go as slow as you want if you keep your stall speed down. I bought a 2000, which will try to pull at 1500. With a strong motor this should be doable i would think.

How much rise did you put in the front of your frame? I like the low look and cut down grill thumb.gif

Frame has 12" of rise on a 45 degree angle, grill height above was about 11.5". Hopefully motor and trans will be done soon and i can fit them in frame.

Slow progress, still working on motor and tranny. Been tinkerin with body some.
