Sitting around the chow table with some friends yesterday and this topic came up.

These friends weren't really car people or automotive hobby people...but even they brought up some cool cars. Big block buicks...torinos...some cars I never even heard of and had to Google.

They expected me to have something "badass" since I'm known as "the car guy" in this circle.

My test car was an 87 Dodge Daytona 5spd. It was my mom's car.

I remember all the kids in driver's ed in high school thought I was a badass because I could drive a 5-speed. The Drivers Ed car was like an early 90s cutlass....automatic of course.

You guys are a pretty diverse group...any good ones to add?

I knew we'd have a 3 on the tree guy!!!

I remember long ago when I was a car Salesman I actually took a 3 on the tree vehicle in on trade and all the old salesmen there were watching me try to figure out how to drive it so I could move it to the trade in lot.

It quit being funny and they went out there and pulled me out and drove it for me. I think I was 19 years old...

In france you have to take the test with the driver ed car.

Renault Clio.

It sucks

86 nissan sentra 4dr automatic. This is not it but looks very similar.

I showed up in a 92 four door ford duelly 5 speed with a nonturbo 7.3. They let me drive it but it wouldn't fit in the parallel parking cones. So I took the whole test and my buddy was taking his test later that day let me use his Malibu to park. Instructor was cool.

Yeah we didn't have a "driving test". We had to log certain amount of seat time during the class.

Our manual trans was a gorgeous red Chevy cavalier

The automatic was a smokin fast blue Chevy Lumina

My first car was a 63 ford galaxie. Automatic

1993 Grand Cherokee, 3" lift on 33's. The instructor bashed his knee and ripped his pants getting in. That thing was a PIECE of ****. Would randomly not start, the back windows didn't roll down, ac didn't work, burned oil like a mother fawker, but it had subs and I thought it was cool ****.

1981 Dodge D-100 that I still own. Of course back then it had a 225ci slant six and 4 on the floor instead of the 400ci big block it has now.

I took mine in my mother's Escort wagon, my instructor would not have liked my 4 cylinder Mustang with the exhaust cut off under the front floorboard and dirt track cam and head.

Total derail, but I took my grandmother from Knoxville to Bean Station (50 miles) in that Mustang. The entire time she was wide-eyed and screaming "SLOW DOWN!" I was only doing 45. Every time I'd let off the gas you could see the exhaust flames reflecting off of the guardrails, she was screaming, "WE'RE ON FIRE!!!!!" I'm sure she's in heaven watching me type this and chuckling at her, I just want to say I'm sorry, Nanny... :****:
