Looking at a new atlas with a new transmission. I going to run a 6l80e which has a 4:1 first gear. I'm just curious to give a balance of crawling vs wheel speed what do you guys like? I'm leaning towards 3.0.

I do, especially since you have more transmission gear options than the average wheeler. You would be able to easily start most hills in 2nd where most other people couldn't

my son has a 3.0 hero in his behind the 6 spd tranny, it crawls really well , usually in first and second , I would recommend the Manuel shift valve body , or else it will be shifting by itself when your not ready

I have a 3.8 atlas with 5.39 gears. I dont have the wheel speed I would like. If I did it again I would do the 3.0. I'm going to regear to 4.56 to help some.

Off topic, but I have a 4.0 Jeep with a 2.8 1st, 4.0 low, and a 4.10 gear. It crawls no than when it was 2.8 ,2.72 , & 4.10 it is lower now, but still not a crawler gear

Jody, I have a stock L33 5.3L, th350, 3.0 atlas and 5.13 gear ratio. I like the combo. IMO if you're gonna go 4.56 with that combo, you may need to warm up the engine a little bit. But maybe you already have?
