• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

Making trip to Moab UT, looking for trail suggestions along the way!

Bringing this back up! Looks like we may try Colorado again as our route. Anyone ever wheel Holycross up there? Looks like we can disperse camp along the road, just hope we have enough room to maneuver the trailer! We are looking at stopping there and then carnage canyon which looks to be just a little farther south off the same road.
Our plan is to hit Holy Cross up on our way to Moab in September. Would love to hear your story about it. I haven't seen what trailer parking is available near it.

As I recall, there is a small gravel parking area at the start of HC trail. But I also remember a very long washboard gravel road getting to the parking area......but that was a few years ago.

is a dry heat!!! I know know, the whole oven thing but it really does make a difference especially on a windy day. Very easy to get dehydrated so carry water.

is a dry heat!!!

That is true, humidity was 15% the last time we were there. But its also sunny as ****. The sun is brutal and the rocks heat up and radiate heat from all directions. And the closest shade is 500 miles away. We went to moab once in july....that was enough. Just remember, you ain't really hot until you feel that first drop of hot sweat run down the crack of your ass. :)

If it gets unbearably hot in moab, there are some mountains about 20 east of there where you can cruise around in the aspens and look for the numerous black bears in that area. I think they are called the LaSalle Mtns.

We stopped by Sand Hollow at the end of June 2015 and it was 109 degrees. They would not rent us a side by side because of the temperature.

last time we went out, we stopped in Farmington over night and wheeled the next day at Chockecherry Canyon/ Glade Run Recreation BLM. Then went into Moab that night.

We made it all the way out there and back! Great times!

Much much more... ended up getting 9.3mpg and had zero trouble with anything! Went a total of 3600 miles and took 3 weeks! It was really awesome to be able to spend time with my family with all this craziness going on! We had a blast!

I will say, Choke cherry canyon had the BEST traction I have ever experienced in my life!! Was undoubtably the coolest place I have been wheeling wise and will for sure go back! We did not get to wheel with many people but was able to stay and see a lot of it! Way more laid back than Moab thats for sure!

Went to Choke Cherry Canyon back in the day for the WERock finals one year. Truely amazing the traction I seen.
