I agree. That's why I was kinda surprised after hearing what PTC spec'd for BeerJ's.
Might have something to do with the 4.10 gears and low powered engine. Also, I don't recall being asked what the rig would be used for so maybe he assumed hill killing or something. The more I think about it, the more I can visualize the shortcomings. You're either riding the converter or by the time it flashes, it wants to break loose. Most likely operator error on my part
 
You got it.

For trail riding you want to find the balance between too little stall (feels lazy) and too much (hard to drive and wants to breaks tires loose as soon as it grabs)
 
Well, bunch of things happened between last december and now.

I sloppy rebuilt the 5.3 and got it tuned.

Added a rear winch (cause #recovery)

Took it out a few times including a cool night ride at Stony.



Added a big light bar (like a flatbill cap, cause Ultra4 broooooo)

Broke a bunch of **** at AOP, then fixed it. Then last weekend I took it to Harlan.

Since I didn't get to do any maintenance I did all of it in the campground while waiting on others.

I also added some BKOR Ultra lightweight brakes in the front.

The rig worked well all weekend, only exception was a bad starter (I think) which started to eat the teeth on the flexplate. I'll get that sorted at some point, but right now it's a bitch to start.

I did get to take it over Little Jaeger which was cool as hell.

I hear BK can make it easy to put fuel in it.

According to the site they obviously can't. I thought that was the main complaint against their 100+k$ rigs :dunno:

Fuel cell is behind the seats (you can see it on the dyno pic, behind the shocks) and a real pain in the ass to fill up with a jug. I've been meaning to install a remote filler and haven't done it because it is low on the priority list.

Fuel cell is behind the seats (you can see it on the dyno pic, behind the shocks) and a real pain in the ass to fill up with a jug. I've been meaning to install a remote filler and haven't done it because it is low on the priority list.

Meh, fuel is overrated.
 
My bad, I finally figured it out. I totally forgot that your radiator was in the front. I see it now, but thought at first it was the radiator I was seeing.

Nah Dawg, they fixed it on the last rig. "It worked so well on the last one, that we changed it on this one..."

You had any issues with fuel leaking past the o ring under that filler plate? I need to check the bolts on mine but it started seeping on the second trip out.
 
I put that cell in my buddies rig a few years ago and have had no leaks. The only issue is it has sunk in on the sides like its under vacuum. It isn't bad enough he is worried about it though.

Not at all.

I think how you torque the bolts plays a big role on how the o-ring squishes and seals.

I put that cell in my buddies rig a few years ago and have had no leaks. The only issue is it has sunk in on the sides like its under vacuum. It isn't bad enough he is worried about it though.

Mine bulges like under pressure. Funny how it works.

That's good to hear. I need to mess with it and see what's going on. Just thought it may have been an known issue since they sent 2 o rings with it. The sides of mine are bulging out as well. But I've had a few poly cells and they all seem to bulge out a little.
