I need a new shifter housing---I just spent 5 hours trying to get this fawker together and I cannot get it to shift---the inner area where the rails rides are soo galled up and/or the shift rail is bent

YOur going to need new shift shaft seals. I had to dril/hone out the shift rails areas and the seals got damaged but they are working now...

Jesus man, I'm sorry...

So was your final list the only things needed now? Or do I still need the above mentioned shift seals and shifter housing?

Awesome!

There's no way in hell I'd have been able to get that done

We tried to do the Lockrite last night, but couldn't pull the carrier to get the roll pin out of center shaft dealy without a case spreader

Thus I shall be open front for mem day... but at least I'll be wheelin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pull the whole front diff out--you don't need a spreader....

I've NEVER used a spreader...

You can do it, flex those Nuzzy muscles and yank that sucker out. Or use a come-along to the front bumper. :)

Plus you still got time before the big weekend.

I want nuzz/weif to wheel all weekend. If the loc rite goes in it will blow a axle or hub. for sure.

Plus, Just simply wheeling it will be awesome after the 5 year hibernation its had.

4:1s in and 300 back together is #1. Bunk may just make some shims today, or I might get some overnight fedexed. Hopefully Bobby will be able to come by too.

Needs:

Clock 300 flat
Build new crossmember for mount
Bolt driveshafts in and check for clearance through suspension cycle
Tune and test propane
Mount lap belts (shoulders will wait)
Bleed brakes and get one flex line fixed
Mount winch
Traction bar in rear

If theres extra time:

Lockrite
Skid plate
Engine temp gauge
Strengthen alternator bracket
Shoulder Belts

Just bringing this back up to the front... I know it's been changed a bit since then. What's your list look like now??... just curious.

You mean the carrier with ring gear attached? I thought that's what Sam said would need a case spreader when I called him last night...

Also, what preloads might be messed up doing that? And the roll pin just gets hammered out so that the center pin can come out right?

Flat belly/tranny crossmember caused to many other probs so it won't happen. Will be going with the stock skid for now.

Lockrite prolly won't happen which SUCKS big.

Traction bar prolly won't happen in time either, so I'll be wheel hopping and probably snap springs.

Brakes need to be blead more but will work.

Propane is in and running. Would be good to play with the mixter so I'm using propane efficiently. Luckily though, there's no pane smell so I should be pretty good.

Winch will hopefully go on tonight.

Then I can get the 300 from crash, and bolt it in with driveshafts tomorrow night.

Hopefully can find time to mount the seat belts too :redneck:

I have used an axle shaft as a big ass pry bar with great success. Stubborn carriers pop right out every time. Use a little impact to knock it loose, the weight of the shaft is your friend.

I was soo giddy after just riding down the street in it this weekend... I'll be happy with just about any wheeling that is done. Hopefully we (meaning Eric:kiss: ) Will have some more time next month to add more of those "finishing touches"

I wish I could be more help with all of it.... I guess I'll just keep cleaning the mildew off the seats! :redneck:

yah... otherwise i'll have to have brad come by and strap me in with breate right strips... :redneck:

... My only requests are for the lap belts and **possibly** a sh!t handle.
(fingers crossed)...
