    KOH wreck

I will agree, the HANS devices saved neck trauma. When I was crew chief on a sprint car, I learned one thing. They are made to crash and the driver survive. The cockpit has knee restraints to keep your feet out of the firewall and steering gear. The drive shaft that goes between your legs has a...

    Engine swap Emissions ?

If I'm reading the laws correctly, it states that if a newer motor is swapped in, the emissions system of the chassis year must be used. http://www.epa.gov/compliance/resources/policies/civil/caa/mobile/engswitch.pdf

    seat belt harnesses

3" hook style. Seen a guy almost burn to death in a sprint car that crashed and caught on fire and he couldn't get his cam lock belts to release. Safety crew guy risked his life and ended up with 3rd degree burns to reach in and cut the guys belts.

    MIG TIG welders, combo?

Pick up a TIG machine that can also power a remote wire feeder. That is the best way to combine both processes. That way with one machine, you can stick weld, MIG, and TIG.

    Diesel or Gas???

The cost of used Diesels are not much more than a used gas truck. The major difference is at 100k a gasser is about used up, where as a diesel is just getting broke in. Fuel may cost more, but I do use less of it. I have yet to see a gasser version of my truck get 18mpg around town...

Roll cage design for worst case scenario?

Chrome-moly has to be TIG welded and the welds annealed for max strength. Take a field trip to the XXX sprint car chassis facility up in Skagit County.

Roll cage design for worst case scenario?

Build your cage out of chrome-moly. You can use a smaller tube size (saves weight) and still get the strength of a larger, heavier DOM tube. Our sprint car chassis are built from 4130 Chrome-Moly and can take a serious hit at 80+mph. Part of surviving an accident at that speeds is cage design...

    Diesel or Gas???

My 99 F-350 gets around 18mpg unloaded around town, and that goes up to about 22 on highway trips. I got 14mpg towing our travel trailer over hwy 20 this fall. I have a larger exhaust, Tymar intake, and a tuner. I love it. It has 161,000+ on it now and it runs like it was new.

    Hunting season

I had the range (452yds) and the windage (4mph left quartering) and was just about to squeeze the trigger when he entered a narrow band of trees. I waited over half an hour for him to pop his head out. But the fugger kept hiding.
