1350 U-Joints

Looks like the strap is a little short. Are you over tightening it trying to get a "full nut"?

Not being an ass...I ask because I had the same problem, mine was doing the same thing. Doesn't take much to warp the caps. I backed off on the pressure and it fixed the problem.

Bingo! We have more joint failures due to over tightening u-bolts than anything else. It crush's the needles, making the u-joint fail prematurely.

Tighten till the lock washer is flat, then go 1/4 turn more, that's it. :****:

I think i might have solved my problem of the busting u joints . I busted the rear cover off to change the oil and well the picture will explain ..

Thats not the worst .. I just got it all apart and when i pulled the center section out the out side bearings fell off . They have spun and ate up the detroit locker .. I have such great luck
