Well, I'm in need of Emergency help, was 2 miles from my house and clutch started spinning after about 3k rpm's.

GOOD THING IT HAPPENED HERE and not at Tahuya.

So i'm price shopping (cheapest right now) and going to do the labor myself.

I could use the help or knowledge of good clutch kits cheap.

Thanks guys

bought mine lat week for 125 from billy bobs off road ( but only drove it about 10 mile and the throw out bearing starting to screatch like crazy)

Tranny is on the ground, looking for someone with a press to change the throwout bearing.

contemplating resurfacing the flywheel and/or changing the rear main seal and tranny front seal

since when do you need a press for the throwout bearing??:eeek:

I would assume that it is something like a datsun, where the throwout bearing is pressed onto a collar. The collar doesn't come with the new bearing, you have to swap them out. :awesomework:

ive always used a bench vice, hammer, and something else........i cant remember the something else because its been a while since i did a throwout bearing:redneck:

hmmm. I changed one in my '82 Toyota 4wd, 88 Toyota 2wd, 94 4runner, and I think another one along the way, and don't recall that issue. I am not a Toyota expert or anything, but my experiences never called for the bearing to be pressed on or off anything. :scratchhead:

****, now you got me thinkin...... Maybe I am forgetting that I did that step:confused:

I use a vise, a hammer, and a large socket... works like a champ and takes about 3 minutes.

Make sure you replace the flywheel, or have the old one turned... and if you get it turned, make sure that they step it or it will never be right...

i used a press to put the new one on but took the old one off with a socket and vise!

Ok well it's sunday, ended up buying a brand new flywheel.

replaced rear main seal and tranny seal input shaft.

Anyone know the torque on the bolts for the pressure plate?

The FSM is telling me 14 ft lbs of torque.. My torque wrench is in inch pounds. So i'm assuming 168 inch pounds.

Now I've never EVER used a torque wrench before. Anyone explain it to me real fast?

Click torque wrench

The measurements on the shaft is in Inch=Pounds and the 1-9 on the rotating shaft bottom are in ft-pounds.

So I had to set it at 120 and rotate til the '4' was lined up.

First time i've ever used one, and i've replaced heads and manifolds. BUT, I am so happy I have one now.

I'm loading pictures, i'll post them up and show you guys where I'm at.

Here you go guys, they are extremely large pictures

so I'll just provide the link

Ok well tranny is back up .. and of course.. the hydraulic system failed.

master cylinder was sucking in air and slave cylinder was spitting out fluid.

and OF COURSE the hydraulic line is rusted to the master cylinder....

So i'm trying to replace all 3 of those, have slave on, clutch mc on .. and I can't get the C-clips off the rubber hose on the firewall .......

grrrrrrrrrrrr
