Gardendale, AL
Date we decided last night is the weekend of April 10th.

It looks like they have one onsite cabin now that is bunk bed style and about $100 night and they also have tent camping and RV camping. Several mentioned camping, including myself. This park has the nicest facilities of any park I have seen. Nice bath houses with Heat and AC, onsite park manager, general store, etc. For those that want a room you may need to find a cabin/hotel and go ahead and collect money and get reservations. There are several hotels in the town of Hot Springs which is about 10-15 mins away. Here is some info on the area.

KOA (is 2-3 miles away and has nice cabins)

Link to Directions from my house (note the directions do not have the new sections of Corridor X in the route, that will save a good bit of time. I am think 6 hours if you keep a good pace)

Re: 2010 Ride #1 - Superlift ORV Park, Hot Springs, AR

So is anybody going to make this ride? Jamie told me he was out, have not heard from anyone else. It is a pretty long tow, if we are not going to have much of a turnout we need to know ahead of time so we can look at closer venues.

Re: 2010 Ride #1 - Superlift ORV Park, Hot Springs, AR

I am planning on going and taking the RV. Nan is planning on going also, but we will be taking the single seater. Greg said he was going and planning on RV as well. Nan may ride with Greg if he has a free seat. Talked to TK last night, he acts like he is planning on going, buy will not commit until closer, TK has a rider if he goes.

Gregg can I camp in your RV? ;D

That is cool, if we get a group up I will definately make the trip. If it is just going to be me and John I would rather wheel somewhere closer than Hot Springs.

Re: 2010 Ride #1 - Superlift ORV Park, Hot Springs, AR

I don't know if I am allowed to post in here or not. But let me ask you guys a question. I have never been to Harlan or the Superlift park. There is a ride in Harlan the weekend after Easter. So knowing you are planning a trip to the Superlift park kinda makes me want to head that way. Do you stay in cabins if not in the RV? So which place would you go first if you haven't been to either park?

Re: 2010 Ride #1 - Superlift ORV Park, Hot Springs, AR

Josh I have been to both and they are both fun and about the same distance, Harlan is probably a touch closer for you. Superlift has great amenities and is very well laid out and managed, best run park I have ever seen. Lots of trails, some very hard, some challenging and some that cater to the bolt on crowd. You can camp onsite or hit up the KOA for cabins just down the road.

Harlan is a lot of fun also, but if it is raining or wet there then you are going to be struggling to get around on the connector trails. I try to hit Harlan in late summer/early fall because it is usually dryer and since it is in the mountains it is cooler. I prefer Harlan dry to anyplace I have ever been, except Clayton, OK.

Also, we have mentioned you several times as a potential member at club meetings, so if you have any interest and want to come ride with us this would be a fun ride to go on.

Re: 2010 Ride #1 - Superlift ORV Park, Hot Springs, AR

Sounds good. I will go ahead and put in vacation time. And I have always enjoyed wheeling with all of you and would like to be part of the club. How many plan on camping or staying in a cabin?

Re: 2010 Ride #1 - Superlift ORV Park, Hot Springs, AR

To keep the cost down I am just going to tent camp, unless Greg has a bed or floor for me in his RV. I looked at the KOA cabins and they seemed expensive for what they are. We generally ride Fri & Sat, but everyone comes when they can/want and some folks are only able to ride Saturday.

I am still working on the "get out of working/ baseball" issue. If all is good, should be no problem. :dblthumb:

Re: 2010 Ride #1 - Superlift ORV Park, Hot Springs, AR

Is this trip still on? We talked about changing it to a more local place for all members to attend but not sure what the outcome was. I believe John said it was still a go though. :dunno:

Re: 2010 Ride #1 - Superlift ORV Park, Hot Springs, AR

John said the weekend was still on and the venue was still Hot Springs at the moment. I think we need to poll the members and see where they want to go. I love Hot Springs, but I am having a hard time with the 6-7 hour drive and the time committment needed for this ride. What about a park in TN like Golden Mtn, or even going back to Iron Gap (weather permitting) would be fun. We already have Mountside & MMORV on the schedule and we have beat Choccolo Mtn to death, so I would prefer to skip those.

Re: 2010 Ride #1 - Superlift ORV Park, Hot Springs, AR

I have no issues with a location change. I agree with Matt on the "don't go there" list. I have not booked a RV spot, so I have no monies tied up at this point. Golden Mountain would be good. Adam told me at may be on its way out. Something about Rocky and thinking about not re-upping the lease. I don't want that spread, not sure if things have changed in 4 weeks since we talked about it. But I am all about less driving.

Re: 2010 Ride #1 - Superlift ORV Park, Hot Springs, AR

Cool, only thing I am leary of at GMP is Rocky. I have heard mixed reviews on him and a lot of locals avoid that park to avoid him. Iron Gap/Monteagle is always fun, especially since we didn't do much riding last time because of the flood. I have never been to Hale Mtn either, but I know you guys have.

I am down for at least one longer trip this year, thinking Harlan in the late summer is our best bet. We talked about Clayton, I just don't see that happening for me this year. That is my .02 is all.

Re: 2010 Ride #1 - Superlift ORV Park, Hot Springs, AR

I know for a fact I can't make Hot Springs. Since we changed our schedules at work it really puts a bind on my traveling plus I just don't have the cash flow I once had since I bought a house. If it is moved to closer location I will try and make it but can't make any promises.

Another thing is I know you guys have planned rides around my schedule or atleast try to. I want you guys to plan them when it's best for yall. If I can make it i will but if not I will catch the next one.

Re: 2010 Ride #1 - Superlift ORV Park, Hot Springs, AR

Cole, I personally still would like to plan around everyone's schedule as much as possible as we are a group of friends and will help out with the expenses or arrangements as we can. As for the ride location, I am open. I enjoyed my 5 minutes at Hawk Pride, as well as Iron Gap and Monteagle. :dunno:

Re: 2010 Ride #1 - Superlift ORV Park, Hot Springs, AR

Id like to include as much of the club as possible. I'd rather sit broke down in Gardendale workin' on rigs with everyone than on the most awesome trail ever by myself.

Re: 2010 Ride #1 - Superlift ORV Park, Hot Springs, AR

Agreed, and we really need to come up with a new venue. Hot Springs ain't happening.

My vote; Iron Gap on Friday/Saturday and Hawk Pride on Saturday/ Sunday.

Re: 2010 Ride #1 - Superlift ORV Park, Hot Springs, AR

I was thinking Iron Gap on Saturday also, it is not that far and a lot of fun. I don't think I can make it out for 2 days, but would like to ride Iron Gap on Saturday.
