have a 89 runner, missing part of the emision tubes, mainly the one that goes under the intake. It runs from the air box under the intake, around the rear of the engine and to the back of the exhust manifold. I taped it off to get it running which seemed to work ok. Can this setup be removed all togather and make a plate to cap the exhaust?:corn:

That's the EGR system, you want that. At least that's the only thing I can think of... mabye air injection but unless you have Cali emissions you shouldn't even have that in that year... From what you describe it's going all the way around the motor? The air box is that big black thing behind your driver's headlight. :flipoff:

when i put my intake on, it required the removal of that tube. my truck passed emissions with flying colors. so i say fawk it

Ya, if it's air injection (aka "smog" pump) you can toss it. If it's EGR you really should keep it.

My freaking '73 FJ has that smog crap on it, pump is shot and makes a racket.

from what i understand; hes talking about the tube that goes from the airbox and then heads underneath the intake. if so, on my rig i plugged it right there with no worries. but i am jacked up on mountain dew:cheer: so who knows

The only tube I have coming from the airbox on my truck is the big one. :flipoff:

now that would be your problem:flipoff: . it must have been the later trucks that had it. but next to the big intake tube was a small one, about 1"od, that run to some sort of emissions blob under the intake. i know longer have that tube, and i believe thats whats being refered to above:clappy:

Ah, that strange little tube that snaps into the cross tube? Ya, pre-88 don't have that. :flipoff:

I'll put money on my truck being more mixed up than yours. Don't make me go take a pic of my '88 throttle and upper plenum, '83 block, '95 head, '86 EFI, etc, etc. :flipoff:
