OK I'm looking for at the 2500 Suburban for my wife's next vehicle simply because the Ford Excursion is still over priced and the 6.0 PSD sucks and my current experience with the mod engines isn't leaving a good experience in IMO. So please tell me your experience pro and con with this model.

And when she wrecks it you'll have a LQ4/4L80E combo for a buggy
Naw I still rather run a EFI 460 C6 combo on the trail....

I hate to brag on her but she used to wheel in High School and College and she's handled a truck and horse trailer in Friday rush hour traffic in Chattanooga.

Ain't saying she ain't never crashed but she is a pretty damn good driver, you got to be when you're mountain folks.

So you prefer less power and more weight.....nice

What the fu*k are you thinking about? I was talking about the lq4 in a burban to a 460
Yes the LQ4 is nice and makes nice numbers the LQ9 slightly more. Yet I find this 351 turned 460 great for a bouncer due to the lighter weight and higher displacement and power output IMO.

Let me know if you're interested in one. We have a 05 GMC Yukon XL 4wd 2500 6.0 auto that I'm contemplating replacing...

Pros;
Resale value (when you sell it)
Reliable
Good power
Decently cheap and easy repairs, same small chit breaks or wears out on all of them
Pre 03 is not drive by wire

Cons;
Resale value (when you buy it)
Most have a chit ton of miles on them by now
Pre 03 have to push the dome override button 4 times for the damn daytime running lights go off.
Some of the abs modules can be a mo fo to find replacements for.
Post 03 is drive by wire

Personally I think these are some of the best trucks GM has built, I prefer the 03-06 years.

Then get a 2500 with an 8.1 an piss all over that sad little 400. 100 more hp and 40 more ftlbs will over a 100 more available at 3k
Looking for a 6.0 for mileage not going to be towing all the time.

It is also 9 grand for a long block. :puke:
Yeah Ford costs more but it's a dream build highly doubt I will ever get a full on tubed bouncer but would be pleased as heck with a TJ with a 4.0 and Dana 60's.

Tell me the pros and cons of ownership so far with this model please, you have the ideal set up I'm looking for.

I have heard the CD players frag, 6 disk units.

Also that the rear air spring compressors have issues but is it only the 1500 with the rear air springs.

Thanks.

We've had no issues with ours. We have a pioneer CD player in it and the 2500's have rear leaf.

Fuel mileage is a bit less than the half tons but they sure run good!!! Lol

We are just looking to update as the wife likes the look of the 'newer' body style...

Ours is pewter and has tan interior, has the 40/20/40 front seat with console ( we normally use as buckets, but the Burb will seat 9.

The real life 6.0 vs 8.1 fuel mileage isn't as different as you might think
I'm sure it wouldn't be much of a difference on the flat interstate but pulling mountains would make a difference I'm fairly sure.

Going to keep an eye on this thread. Really wanting to upgrade from my 97 1500 Suburban w/ 5.7 to an 03-06 2500 Suburban w/ 8.1.

Been looking for a great deal on one but no luck yet. Girlfriend checks Craigslist almost daily, we both love the Burbans. Most of them for sale are high miles with a high price tag.
