300m RCV Toyota Longfields worth $?

The upgrade to 300m inners is unnecessary. You'll blow the bell or crack a star and strip the splines before you ever break an inner shaft.
Thanks, that is pretty much the conclusion that I have came to. In this situation I am thinking that it is overkill.

i had been running bobby's modded birfs.broke both stars!upgraded 7 years ago to 30 spline cromoly, jumped my junk, blew knuckle bearings out,had to drive a few miles back to camp.birf has ground marks and is sloppy, bought a new one,was gonna rebuild the other, then mister passed! rip. it is worth the upgrade.then upgrade hub studs, then ring and pinion is the next weak link.

No,

The 300m upgrade that rcv is offering is for the inner axles.

The guts of the birf have always been 300m.

The upgrade to 300m inners is unnecessary. You'll blow the bell or crack a star and strip the splines before you ever break an inner shaft.

Wrong Bobbys were 300m axles and birfs, I would recommend getting the 300m shafts, and you'll most likely break the inner axle before the birf blows. At least that's what my longs always break. You can always add extra dowel pins to hub and cure them from shearing off

No. They weren't.

I've ran longs since 2003.

They were specifically advertised as 4340 with a 300m inner star, and 4340 shafts. I still have the original paper work and longfield "brochure".

The 27 spline stuff was chromo the first couple of batches of 30spline were also chromo. Due too massive failures he changed shafts to 300m. I know I lived next to him for 15yrs, his wall of shafts were all labeled 300m, only chromo shafts were 27 spline. So if you broke a warrantied 30 spline shaft Bobby would have sent you a updated 300 replacement. Cuz that's the kinda man he was

Oh Ok cool. I never broke a shaft, only birfs.

Bobby was definitely the man when it came to customer service. More than once he offered me things for free/warranty when I was trying to buy them.

I wonder why they never updated the info on the shafts though. I bought a set in 03, another around 05 and another set in 09.

Bobby wasn't very tech savvy lol and neither was Tina. Really it was probably an oversite, as most people called him direct anyway. But he was diagnosed with cancer around 2007. Tina ran the company for the most part since his diagnosis, she was self admittedly horrible with the website stuff.

Bobby was very passionate about building the strongest Toyota axle you could make. A lot of the industry didn't see the point to try and make an axle as strong as he did. Their take was at the numbers your trying to make, people are just gonna upgrade to a 60. Bobby was a very backyard budget kinda builder an seen a very lucrative market for guys that wanted the strength but couldn't afford the 60 kinda upgrade. After his death we put on a memorial run and Marlin and big Mike came up to pay respects and wheel with us. I remember marlin commenting on how sloppy and rutted our trails are. With all the wheel spin he seen he said we always wondered what Bobby was doing up here trying to create such a strong axle when everything that was already on the market was holding up fine lol

Back to my point. If you have to pay an extra $150 to get them the way they were originally designed your money ahead! 300m all the way :dblthumb:

I know if my longs ever break, I'll be replacing them w 300 rcv's my replacements will then get tossed in the trailer as spares.

Thanks for all the input! I will probably by sum 300m RCV from Daves off-road supply on Monday.

Ok, next question....... I have a Detroit 410, and a welded 410 with drive flanges.
Which one would u run on the front end with the RCV 300m setup? Silly but I have both and wana see the response. Thanx

Welded, I've seen you drive. Once you break an axle, your likely to break the detroit.

Besides, you don't really drive it on a paved road.

Heard u were there today n didn't see u. Scotty said 25 buggys signed up when I called last night. Guess only 8 showed up Lol

Let's ride sandmines next weekend. Park at my house and go up powerline trail, then cross over to sandmines.

Makes for a good ride.
