40 spline? Whats the story?

They both break the pinion deflection is the primary concern pinion diameter is second and gear mesh surface area is next! If you don't have said 40 spline shafts and all the parts needed to run all that then just go 14 like many others have said :****:

HP 60, no room for a 14 bolt in my buggy

Ok, I knew you had went Jana 76 on the LP (and had broke it). I was checkin out your rig at RBD and saw the HP60, but didn't know if that had held up for you.

So far so good with the HP60, haven't been driving it to much, wife drives it more than I do

I broke 2 Jana 76 kits and I only have 39s and a baby motor

Did you have the load bolt on the Jana 76? So far so good for mine but I have the load bolt and some NOS Dana gears that were made in 1982. From what I understand, most of the aftermarket forgings are from overseas and weaker.

Nah i didn't have load bolts, after the first 76 broke I was done with it, only reason put another one in was so I could make a ride.

I went through 2 sets of 5.86 gears in a lp 60 in a year. I was running spicer joints at the time too. Went to 4.56's now and I still try to let off if the front tires see more hang time than I feel comfortable with since I stepped up to super joints. Haven't broke the 4.56's yet but I got less than 200 horses. :dunno:
