Nothing wrong with Krawler sidewalls, you diggers just can't drive :D

For anyone that doesn't know, look at ANY racer running BFG krawlers and see how they hold up in the sidewall area, to me its a costly joke and no I don't race or run these tires. Seen enough of my friends wknds ruined by them :****:
If I were trailriding out west(if that still exists :flipoff1:) there would be no other tire i'd run, they work like mad.

Was thinking the same thing :****:
im still running my set from 2002, granted can't ruin too many sidewalls sitting on jackstands ???

That's funny, everybody goes there.

Tires around here take some abuse, just look at Cole's rig. I have bent the lip of a Walker Wheel and the tire was fine. So far I have never had a Krawler fail. That includes KOH LCQ, KOH, SMORR, and lots of trail riding.

As for the sidewalls, what PSI were they ran at when the sidewalls got punched?

I've torn my fair share of Red sidewalls. All of them under 12psi. Started doing more go fast stuff, aired to 20+ and never had a problem again even in the sharpest rocks of Disney, where tires dont last especially at 40+mph.

I shouldn't have said ANY racer. I'm sure you get what I'm saying and have probably seen more blown out krawlers than I have. With that said, it would be pretty dumb to say they don't have a weak sidewall.

I've never asked anyone what psi they were running in them.

What Josh was saying, is exactly what Nolen was saying, just worded differently. I, too, don't drive well enough to run krawlers. I'd like to try another set at some point, and probably will have to since I don't know how I'll get another set of treps.

I bought a set of krawlers before I started racing, and cut a sidewall on the 2nd weekend of trailriding on them. Approx 10 mph, 12 psi, caught a root sticking out of the bank. I didn't feel it was anything that should have cut a sidewall.

Any of the comp compund tires can be popped, likely easier than street compound.

I popped a 40" maxxis in Poteau, OK, but I was trying to pass another rig on the trail at 40.

If the rubber is softer, it might cut easier. One argument for why reds work so well is the softer, more pliable sidewall.

i've got a pretty nasty gash in thesidewall of one of my reds.. Not all the way through or leaking, but enought I worry about it...
Anyway to repair it before it gets worse?? its about an inch wide and has a little flap over it...

Take it to GCR in Tarrant, they can fill it in and smooth it out

I will keep running these "weak sidewall" tires because in the end all tires can be torn and their is no invincible tire. Several times this year I have seen folks destroying swampers left and right on Cable Hill and Krawlers just spanked it and never had an issue. I have never personally had any issues with Krawlers in 3 years of running them.

I do believe the red labels are great tires but I didn't see then working night and day better at smorr. I know shannon cut a tire there but I think the way he drives any tire would have gotten cut. I'm pretty sold on the rockers, we will see how they work on the race buggy

Never cut one in 6 years of wheeling on them. I also wheel mostly with guys running them.

I saw Jimbro take out 2 in one day.....those were the only 2 in 5 years. Pat cut one the other day on a dopey culvert.

Besides that, 98% that I have seen cut have been racers.
It is a trade-off for sure.

So what you are saying is that if I hit a rock hard enough to bend a Walker Evans rim enough to make it crack I should not be surprised when there is a hole the size of my fist in the Red? LOL

Bottom line is Krawlers were never designed for racing. They were designed for Cone dodging. Any BFG tire designer will tell you that. Thats why they came out with the KRTs.

Keith (ORC) has a guy who is alot cheaper on vulcanizing than GCR. I know, GCR did one of mine and took them forever and was rather expensive. :****:

GCR treated me great, probably took a week or two, but only cost $85 to fix two holes and fill in some missing chunks.
