44 axles?

Best bang for your buck

Yukons/super joints......

But remember its still a 44 and just be smart with it---thats why alot of guys are able to keep them alive...

x2

I'm running Yukons/super joints /w 35" Krawlers and Detroit and have been good so far.

Seen allot of reports on Yukon outer stubs sheering at the second snap ring groove.

No issues of that on this board I take it??

I've seen them twist/pop in the middle of the ears and flat pop in the middle....

Where are you hearing this mark? Like anything--its a 44 and they are going to break....

Pirate (were else). Seen a couple pics/threads on it, with multiple people showing similar breaks. Kind of turned me off to Yukon shafts [stubs atleast].

From what I have web-wheeled... seems like Alloy USA is the best bang for the buck. No questions 10-year replace, and stronger to begin with than Yukons, with Superiors being the top dog.

For me, stockers with welded U-joints and haven't broken one. But a Detroit's going in here REAL soon so I don't expect that luck to last :D

I run a 44 with 36" Iroks I LOVE the skinny pedal at times, the shafts are yukon and yukon joints. Front tire burns and 2 stubs broken at the spindle needle bearing "sheered". I drive the axle hard if you don't do front tire burns on rock they will survive just fine. I am very impressed with how they hold up, stock shafts would laugh and then "snap"

Whats the current 'warenty' on Yukon shafts??

What am I talking about, I have a D60 sitting waiting, money dumped into my 44 could be dumped into the 60..., but curiousity does get to me.

What are folks paying for a set of inners and outers?

I think it is 5 yr but I have an insider:D so I've never had a question with warranty.

I think the complete set runs $500-$600 for d-44 shaft kit with joints price varries with spicer or Yukon joint.

ya, but now you have a 60.... and rick is proving that those are just more expensive to fix :D

Besides, for now I'm just on 33's, I plan on getting some spare shafts, and getting good at swapping :redneck:

hmmm, according to your Sig I must be a A & B type person.... wish I could be a C but 'D'=family has now gotten in the way, with 'E'=money.

But hey, till then I can be a parts whore :flipoff:

Rick's front 60 has demons in it--he has had bad luck with that thing as long as I have known him,lol....

Now I have zero worries and not afraid to do front digs in the rocks...

I don't think I would run a Detroit if you are worrying about shafts popping. After the first shaft you can say goodbye to the detroit too...

Actually it was fine till that first knuckle he blew up on tight-ass many moons ago, since then... ya, down hill.

He also beats the living tar out of that thing. Seems like he wheels more times in a month than I can sometimes manage in a year!!

Same with an ARB or lunchbox or anything else. I've also heard reports of lost of folks that have busted shafts and not hurt a damn thing, so I guess it depends on the circumstances of the break.

After running an open front for 10 years, and been *talking* about a locker for just about as long (as well as allot of other things  ) now that I scored a deal on this thing it WILL go in and atleast get a 'season' of beating on is. I'm SO stocked to actually see what the difference a front locker can make. But thats not this thread.
