4L60 vs. TH400

you should be able to adjust that.... I know on the 700r4, left alone, that CAN be a bad thing for them....:eeek:

I talked to my trany guy and he said this is typical on the 4l60e and that I could up the pressure but that would make all my shifts harder, wich I don't want.

ya, my trans. guy changed the governor? on mine from one that was in a corvette to a normal truck style one, shifts a LOT softer... the other was designed for the police car...:D Sure was fun though. :awesomework:

Are you thinking about using a 4l60 or 4l60E?

I would argue that the 4l60E has a considerably stronger bellhousing than the th400/th350, it bolts on 360 degrees and has additonal ribbing and gusseting on it.

Also, the tailhousing of the 4l60E is a larger 6-bolt pattern and you can buy a "shorty" adapter from advance adapters.

I would also look into the 4l65E from behind the newer 6.0ls, they are supposedly beefed up for the now 350-400hp factory motors.

Are you going to run a newer LS motor or? Tranny choice would be affected alot by what you are going to run in front of it.

Motor is gonna be a 5.3 or 6.0, and probably whichever transmission comes behind it in silverado, tahoe, etc. I think I've decided I want the o/d for sure.
