Hey im wanting to juice my 5.3L vortec up a lil bit. Does anyone have any opinions on what performance parts
to go with and has anyone had any experience runnin these in buggies?

Thanks

1TONZR2 and Blacksheep both have got experience with em. LS6 cam/springs, head work, etc. Really good power for price

get a 02 and up zo6 cam and springs, you can get them under 200 bucks all day, huge improvement

ok thanks man im gonna be running 5.38 gears with 44s, so hopefully it will be enough power

Contact Texas Speed and Performace about upgrades to your 5.3

I would suggest a Texas Speed "Torquer 2" cam and their 5.3 stage 2.5 heads. This combo will yield around 435 REAR WHEEL horse power on a LS1.

These are the go to guys when it comes to making strong LS power and still retaining the factory driveabilty.

What ever you do don't go with a mail order tune. Put your ride on a chassis dyno and get it tuned.

ok man thanks makes me feel better i bought one from a 04 silverado w/ 70k miles on it, and my friends are trying to get me to put a
big block in instead, so i was debatin a lil bit lol

My old jeep had a stock 5.3, with 4.56 gears, 42'sand in 2.4 low range i could blow all 4 tires off at will ;D

Installing a cam, pushrod, and valve spring setup from CBM motorsports w a custom flash on the factory heads and fuel system. They say I should be around 400 hp.

That sounds like a lot of HP for a cam, pushrod and spring swap. I would think that is a little high, seems like most folks are doing a lot more work to pull 400 horses from a 5.3.

On the 5.7 upgrades, a Ramjet 350 (Same as ZZ4) will add power but make sure you can find someone to tune the ECM properly. Jim's could never figure mine out and it leaned out bad
