90's throw back....Manche build

How does it do at speed? Had it up to 70-80 mph yet?

Do you think you could use it as a hardcore expedition vehicle?

I've been going back and forth about having a mechanical link and saw Goatbuilt's subframe for a 3-link.

Haven't been to 80 yet. Still need a true alignment for toe in adjustment.

Steering wise, it is a slight bit twitchy on road at <2.5 turns lock to lock, but that is likely due to the toe in currently. (5.5 ° caster at ride height).

If I wanted it to be more highway speed friendly I would either put in an overdrive trans (which I am kicking around doing already) or raise the gearing to about 4.88-5.13- don't want to do. It's right on its power sweet spot at speed on 37's (3000rpm @ 60 mph) with lots of room for acceleration up too peak hp, so I really don't want to change the overall 1:1 gearing. A double underdrive 6l80 would be the cats meow right now. 42's would help even more than my 39" krtb's, but I didn't build room for them nor do I want them.

I certainly wouldn't be afraid to run it as is in an ultimate adventure scenario (and adding bed storage rack).

Had a little shop time today. Got the hood vents fabbed and installed.

I raised the profile of the screen to give it some depth, and to clear the vent on the steering reservoir... it just kissed the hood before the cutouts.

The raised mesh looks very good.. :dblthumb: Matching pieces on the cowl under the wiper arms would be flashemifyougotem.

Looks awesome. I have to ask, are all the rivets functional to attach to the hood? Lol.

Just was curious if only a few go through the hood and panel, or all.

All or nothing baby..., but the hood lost no strength once all buttoned up, lol.

More to be added, and I'm sure there are nuances some folks remember through the build that makes this truck one of a kind. This has been the most fun of anything I have built in the last 20 years, and I'm looking forward to concentrating on building more projects very soon. It wheels as suspected, and hauls ass in its current form. It could be raced if desired, with the deletion of panels and glass to get under weight, and the addition of required safety gear.

Because there has to be a price...$80,000, as listed, with option for delivery. This deal could be made for less and is negotiable with changes to some of the above listing. Customization after deposit made, may change final price. Not interested in selling as a roller, not interested in trades at this point. Cash talks...

Snow day, shop day...

Running the exhaust to the bumper, try to get a few decibels down in the cab. If this doesn't help, I'll be changing mufflers from the delta single chamber to something else.

REALLY? What the hell are you thinking here? A silver coil above a blue coil on a red truck? SHEEESSHHH. RobbyBobby wouldn't even have that. Kick your seeing eye dog and get it right. The Blue coil looks way better over the silver and put some rattle can on that thing. :rolf:

I really like these vents can you go into more detail on how you fabbed them and what the materials you used ?

The surround is .063 aluminum. Just made a template, the stainless screen dimension was determined by how much screen I had left, lol. Ran the frame through the beadroller, both interior and exterior of the opening. Traced the opening onto the screen, and then ran it through the roller as well. I then cut the hood out about 1/4 larger than the interior of the frame opening. I sandwiched the hood between the frame and the screen. Riveted 3/16 with back up washers on the screen. Then I massaged the raised area of the screen with some body and dead blow hammers, to get a higher, more uniform bulge. This woven screen doesn't beadroll very accurately because it tends to squirm around due to the weave. I'll likely make a frame for the inside at some point as well, so it would hide the edge of the screen inside.

... round 2... 1st version wasn't enough tire clearance during articulation...

Kinda got that trophy truck exposed exhaust thing going on.

Made quite the difference, sitting in the shop anyway. Roughly 70" of tube was added from original. It did eliminate the rear firewall rattle when I run the rpms up.

I have also scavenged an 8" resonator from 2008 powerstroke exhaust that makes it even better even placed just behind the tire, if I decide this isn't enough.
