• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

Adding 10" of pleasure or pain

Not alot of pic worthy updates;

re-routed the wiring harness from outide teh fenderwells (factory locale) to inside the engine compartment, made and welded in some new sheetmetal where I cut out the sumps behind the headlights where the battaries were, and bolted the brakelines back up to teh firewall. Bought some tubing to bend up this w/e will get some more pics then.

Love the 700r4, I run a Dana 300 with stock gears. with an auto and some power no need for lower gears?

I bought the set up already done, but the info I got and talk to Jim, it sounds as if you send him your harness and he takes out the unneeded wires and "flashes" the computer to take out un necessary parameters like transmission control, speed sensor, etc.

right on man thanks for the info,:cool: is your 300 all stock?

So I made 2 sets of tubes for the A pillars on teh roll cage, first 2 were screwups and the 2nd 2 are all hot glued in. I also started trimming the dash piece to get around them. got pics but there still on the camera will post them this w/e after more tube work is done. Hopefully no more screw ups.

OK, got a few things done this w/e but I'm gonna backtrack to last monday when I moved the wiring harness' from outside the engine campartment factory locations to inside;

Tuesday I got a little inner fender work done. Because I moved the front axle forward so far in the original build teh front tires would rub the sumps behind the headlights where the battaries were. Battaries are moving to the back of the truck and the sumps were removed and replaced with;

Thursday it took me two tries but I got the A pillar tubes bent and welded in. the difficulty was mainly because I wanted to keep them tight to the A pillars and still be able to weld them to the halo.

Next came the front bumper/core support mod. I wanted to do a small "stinger" type of desert truck kind of look. Also wanted to add a bit radiator/coolong fan clearence at the at the water pump. I tied it into the shock towers and will later add a removable cross piece over the engine;

After the dash work, I built some mounts for the computer and the trans cooler (since I butchered the core support I had to build new mounts). I wanted to get the trans cooler in so I could hack up the grille and try to get it in there;

fairly successful weekend of re-assembly, cuttin and weldin stuff up.

3 more weekends left to get it runnin. I'm ahead of schedule so far I think but still have lots to do yet.

i like how you ran that tube from the internal cage to the fender bar but it looks to me like your tire may hit that? also what did you tie the new hoop in the front into? and what size tires are you running :cool: :beer:

Tire moves forward as it compresses, might rub slightly if turned? Tires barely rub the fender tubes before.

The front hoop is tied to the front of teh shock towers which are actually hoops. here's the front half of shock hoop on the drivers side;
