I've sat here this entire time I was banned trying to figure out how to put this. It is the primary source of my comments to you via text. (I did delete your number as you requested.) I could have made a thread about it but my goal isn't to bring people down or create drama. So I've decided that addressing it with you directly and privately is the best way. That being said, it is difficult for me to address just from a wording perspective without making it sound insulting. So I ask that before you judge please try not to be insulted because that is not my intent either. I just don't know a great way to present the facts while using overly sensitive wording.
The week that Casey posted his thread one of the most important people on the planet to me was sexually assaulted. Both them and the attacker are minors so I am not going to go into great detail as to identities or specifics of the case. The short story is that a person who was too young to understand porn got a hold of some very explicit material and re-enacted it upon another young person. At this point both families are dealing with it as best we can and trying to move on. But it happened and it happened because porn got into the wrong hands.
I believe that as a man of faith it is hypocritical of you to admin a site that offers pornographic material to indiscriminate audiences. You do so much to help children's foundations and then offer porn to those same children freely. I believe that the bible you believe in considers porn a sin and that it does not distinguish between softcore and hardcore porn. Thus, independent of the audiences you offer the material to, I believe it is hypocritical to offer it at all. You're basically saying, "I hate sin, I'll ban anyone that questions my hate of sin, but here's a whole bunch of sin for those who want it."
The true rank of Jesus in the hearts of HL members is shown simply by sorting General Discussion by activity and views. The porn threads are 3 of the top 6 most viewed with the Jesus thread being #11 IIRC. The porn threads are 3 of the top 10 most active with Jesus being #14. It's simply beyond my senses that a man who is obviously thinking of the afterlife right now finds it so easy to ban people but not porn. If you Google "side boob thread" the thread here on HL is the #3 result last I checked. There are SEO companies that get paid big money for worse search engine results than those. More than just horny, sinful 4x4 guys are checking those threads to obtain those kinds of search engine rankings. Is that really what you want to stand in front of those pearly gates to explain someday? Would you go to your preacher proud of the porn your site has to offer? Do you want your grandchildren to come to HL to learn of this great hobby of ours only to be presented with a cornucopia of porn as well?
I realized while I was banned that HL is the only link on any computer I have ever owned that directs to a site with porn. That makes ME a hypocrite as well. My daughter or any of her friends could click that link and be directed to any of the porn threads here on this site. As such I have decided to do something about it. Until such time as HL has stopped offering porn I will not be an active participant and I will not have links to HL anywhere on my computing equipment. This isn't a threat or an ultimatum. I am certain HL will get on just fine without me and I would even miss HL. It's obvious that some people here would even prefer to be rid of me. It's just a statement of how important the issue is to me. While I think that HL could be a thing of greatness, it is a thing of nothingness compared to a moment of any child's innocence to me.
90% of the internet is devoted to porn, I realize this. Kids can get it if they seek it. So can adults. So why do they need to get it here? Why do we need be a part of the problem instead of apart FROM the problem?
Anyway, I noticed you removed me from the Magic Carpet Ride as well. That's your prerogative. But please know that, despite these views, I do genuinely hope the best for you. I do deeply care and in my heart I think about you many times a day.
