air shocks or coilovers

Race-dezert.com classifides
All for $450 shipped
Shocks are $415 ea at Poly P.
This is about $1000 worth of stuff. W/o springs.
I also scored 3" x 150lb king springs new for $60 shipped.

The suspension geometry is going to be very similar to Crash's truggy and the secret squirl project.

I really like that design and I have a pretty good how to right here on our forum.

I have another big ? on that link design that im conserned about but ill ask that? in another thread.

Appreciate the answers and discussion on this,Thanks Mike. :corn:

Some of my concern about the air shocks,is ive seen guys side hill with them and get alot of body roll. When they get back on flat ground the rig still leans over to that side untill they hit a bump then it levels back out:puke:

I would assume a currie anti-rock sway bar would help or maybe fix this.

The air shocks getting stiffer as they run through there cycle is odd to me,why is this? is the oil mixing with the nitrogen?
This would be a traite that I would not prefer.:eeek:

Is it possible for a guy to buy the coilover body's and put a bit more nitrogen in them and just run them like an air shock?

Then if you didnt like the airshock set up you could later buy the spring kit and springs for them later. Not have to start over buying more shocks.

Or is the standard valving in the ciolovers not up to such a duty.

That's S&N's 4 link design.

The ones on the aforementioned vehicles they did...as with many others that were copied.

There's a reason people copy their design, it works.

I hate to be copy cat,im not usually that way I prefer to be orginal.Bottom line that link design seems to work well, opens up all that room in the center of the frame.Plus im complete newb when it comes to building and designing a link suspension.Im hoping get some help from you guys when I reach this point.

Weve got a bit off topic a few times here, but im reading and learning.YOure starting to sway me toward the coilovers now.

I know it near impossible to build a rig that does all types of wheelin good. This is my goal and coilovers sounds like major part of the recipe to get me there.

Thanks ,MIke. next ? next thread.............

it is very critical to get the link design right just because it looks good doesnt meen **** s&n has put alot of thought and r$d into there inverted 4link. I think its funny when people say that air shocks do weird things, the truth is every shock has a certain application and some work better than others in certain situations that is why it is better to talk to an expert like s&n that has experience with both.

Good post Sarge,I agree in all aspects.I think the fact that i want to do some light desert thrashing along with rockcrawling and trail riding Ill be best off with the coilovers. So Ill just budjet some more money toward the coilovers. Its just $$$ right LOL

Thats inverted link--that there chassis's are built around--they didn't invent it....

I don't think it's so much that they invented that link layout/ design but more the specifics/ demensions involved are native to their chassis. More going on there than most people think.
