I was wondering who runs all Toyota running gear and what you thought of the power on hills, dependability, and if you would change anything. I just ordered a new all tube chassis with all Toyota running gear, just lookin for info, this is my first crawler.
Thanks

I ran all Toyota in an Ftoy. Not alot of "power" but it would CLIMB anything that I pointed it at. Reliabilty was great.....buy everything that Bobby Longfield sales and you will be fine. If it is horsepower and wheel speed that you need Toyota aint where its at.

very dependable especially for a first rig. drive it for a while and if you want more wheel speed buy a supercharger for it. i have seen a all yota buggy with a charger kill a set of 42s. x2 on the bobby long stuff

Thanks guys, my understanding is the buggy already has chrome moly longfield stuff in both rearends, the only thing I really didn't like was bob front and rear was welded, can't turn very sharp.

there is nothing wrong with welded front and rear. hydralic steering will take care of any turning problems.

we have been running toyota running gear for years 42 tsl's, now we have bought a set of 43x14.5x17 tsl/sx stickies. gonna see what happens now.
havnt broke anything, knock on wood.
like the way the horsepower buggies go, just dont want to spend that kinda money.
good luck with your decission
jamie

4.7 case or doubler and let errr rip. Not high horsepower but you can beat on em and have a good time. I have 4.7 and 2.28 doubler and its too low so I usually just run the 4.7 case in low range. Welded diffs suck for turning but when you don't have cash it gets the job done. I've done welded, and lunchbox but am runnin ARB's now and don't wanna go back.

4:70 gear set 2:28 doubler, rock assault housings, front full hydro steering,
5:29s and full detroit front and rears. fixing to put disk brakes in the rear and rear longfield output shaft.
new 43 stickes with double beadlocks. lets see what the weak link is.

are you running the trail gear chromos or longs??
I have the rock asualt houseings with dirty 30 shafts, 6 shooter knuckles, 5.29 305, on pane,700r4,208/300 in my buggy. I am wanting to move from 36 up to a 38/42 ;D hopeing the toys will live.

we are running dirty thirty's, 6 shooter knuckles, full hydro with creeper flanges. we were running 42 tsl's, high pinion front with 5:28 gears full detroit,
22r with propane, just recently rebuilt the motor, going to be pushing more horsepower stage II. we are hoping that it holds together, if not we will sell these 43;s
and go to a 40 sticky creepy crawler.
thanks jamie
