Alternator bracket for Chev 350?

got a quote from Napa today.. $131... ughhhh for the long water pump.

... however, I think that will be the route I'll go. There just seems to be more options for the LWP

Wow!!! $131??? Let me do some checkin':;.....

Wow, that sure isn't much belt wrap around the P/S pump pulley...how's it work Dobber??? (No squeal?)... I like the 2-belt system w/ long long water pump better myself (if you've got the room).

doesnt have any squeels, drove it out in the street and up on a few tires thats about it since i put the trail-gear kit on. Ive had my toyota pump in the same location for a few years now and it has never squeeled.

Fawk, I dont even charge that much to build a custom bracket for a pupm or alt.

I just did two samis with custom toyota pumps on a sami motor for 100 each and that was with an idler and over a halfa wrap on the pulley.:D

That was what he was quoted for the water pump...not a bracket genius!!!:haha: He got a pump cheaper...

I understand the quote was for a long pump. He said it in black and white. What I was saying is that I could have built a bracket for less than the DIFFERENT pump.

A new pump and new brackets and pulleys are alot more than a hundred dollar bracket that leaves all the old (short pump) alone.

do the math, genius:fawkdancesmiley::haha:

man where'd you find the ps pump bracket? a buddies been lookin for one for awhile. but hey i have a alternator bracket off my chevy 350. not sure how much to ask for one but its in yakima. let me know man

I went over to his place tonight, and he's got some work ahead of him...once he gets his springs in, he's gonna tackle the pump/alt/ps setups....may end up over at my place if he can't get it together....:awesomework:

Good, take care of em. Make it work!:clappy:

yah, this is a real pain in the ass. I'm hoping the long water pump will work, and line up the alternator bracket.
I'm just hoping that with the extra work tonight, that I can get everything done tomorrow for Rieter saturday! .. (heh fat chance)

Not sure want your look'n for. You need the alt mounts of the ps mounts. All 6 of my gm motors have the alt on pass side and ps on driver side. My ps has 2 belts on it and and a serp to my alt. If you haven't found the hardware let me know. I might have it.

If you are trying to put a long water pump on a v8 yota it's gonna be a super tight squeez unless the radiator is moved into the core support, the engine is moved into the firewall or the radiator is in the bed... When I did it I moved the radiator. :D

As for the single belt running everything that is a bad design... The limited amount of belt contact will let the belt slip under hard usage. The aluminum pulley will get hot and slide right off of the pump... I had that happen to a buddy with a slightly loose belt on a yota application so it had at least double the belt contact...

There's room---measured it last night....the Original fan is being omitted in favor of a 16" Electric pusher.... Maybe the Rad has been moved? There's an inch or better with a long pump in there...Just need to get the right pulley setups for the crank & w/p which I think I've got...:awesomework:

I'll get pics when I can find my cord uploader thingy..

anywho, it looks like I found a solution!

1) fab up a ghetto bracket for the PS pump
2) purchase a long water pump... the short water pumps will only work if you have headers
3) with the LWP, you can get a bracket that puts alternator on the passenger side, but on TBIs the old style bracket that goes to the intake bolt won't work because a sensor is in the way

So yah, I'd have her running, but unfortunately the RTV on the water pump apparently didn't hold. I filled her up with Coolant and drip drip drip she went :-( I'll have to take it apart, clean, it and try to reseal then. Oh and it looks like a new bottom coolant hose to the radiator will be in order (the SWP host is too long for the LWP so it doesn't seat right, causing leaks)
