Anybody seen a broken Superior Super 8.8 shaft?

I broke one Saturday. I have yet to read of anybody breaking a Superior Super 8.8 shaft yet. Anybody else heard of one? From the way it looks, I really think I am dealing /w a defective shaft. What do you think? (other than build 60's) :fawkdancesmiley:

Specs: 4500lb-ish XJ, 35" tires, auto trans, in a muddy trail, not much traction when it broke.

Looks like a defective shaft to me. Most others I've seen broken usually look more twisted. That seems like a pretty clean break.

Bent housing, It shoulda broke by the splines.

60's are weak, Go rockwell.

Yeah, I would ask for a replacement.

I, as of today, grenade D30 parts in my parking lot. But I have yet to break an 8.8 shaft.

It took out the clutches in the Detroit, but Scott Frary already got that taken care of for me

I work on the cop cars and we use supior shafts after they break the stock ones, wich they are good at, and I have yet to replace replace a supior one. Looks like a bad shaft to me.

+1 for Superior Axle

Just got off the phone /w Jeff Phillips, owner of Superior Axle. He agrees that there was some sort of manufacturing defect in that shaft and is shipping me a new one TODAY, along /w a call tag for my broken one. They will dissect it and determine the cause and let me know.
