1st off this financial mess is worse than a divorce, I've lost half my net worth and I still have a wife.

Now the nuts and bolt.

At what point to we start a big WAR? Or at what point does war break out?
Russia invaded Georgia already and has cut off natural gas to Western Europe. We now owe CHINA eleventy trillion dollars, and have no way what so ever to pay. They are going to hand our asses to us. They slave labored their whole population to make products for us, and we gave them an IOU.

At what point do these banks just shut off credit cards because the banks themselves can not make good on the credit cards?

Unwinding the markets from the level they were at to the level we are at today happened way to fast with way too much leverage. **** is going to have a detrimental effect. Ok, so thiscredit crunch has been going on for a month right? So effectively we have gone a month with near zero trade. Thats like taking a frieghttrain and throwing on the brakes. **** has to pile up and be a mess somewhere.

Just brain storming. I'm glad I'm invested in Stocks & Bonds..........womens stockings, and bonded whiskey.

this started a year ago. I'm in a recreational industry. Last fall my customers stopped taking care of their toys. There was a small increase over the summer. But for the most part the boats are rotting in their slips. We've lost 2 car, and one boat dealers I know of in town.
I've thought for a few years the housing market was way over priced. How can John Q. afford a 200,000 house on a 50k salary? How much do you remember of the middle to late 70's, the Carter era? sit tight. Were in for a repeat or worse.
I'm with you though it's going to take a war to resolve. It's just a shame we don't have enough officials with balls to pull the trigger.

He can't......Now he knows it. The bubble had to burst sometime. Whats funny is they knew it was gonna happen and got greedy (more so) and couldn't/wouldn't stop the bleeding....so to speak.

I think the market will come back around real soon. Theres gonna be a lot of money spent on these low stocks. People stand to make a lot of money from all this, and they'll make a killing. They are playing it smart and letting things level out. The ones that know what they are doing are gonna fix the problems by buying things while they are so low.

I predict.....Next week the markets will explode and end up higher than anyone expects. We'll get back to looking good in no time.

I'm really not worried......thats just me though and my $0.02.

The war is coming. Isreal will attack Iran after the election. I don't know if it will help the economy though.

I hear ya. I looked at my 401K today and wanted to cry! :'(

:flipper: Obama

dow recovered 700 + pts......relax. Gas prices are down....small town banks are liquid. Go spend a ttle money this weekend, that will do a lot toward getting ustrouigh this.

Wyatt, did you plan on cashing in any of that paper any time soon? If not, fuggit. As long as your companies dont fold they will be back over time. But you know this.....stop being fatalistic. It is unbecoming.

I wish I had some money to play with---maybe I will buy some stock with the $$ from my bike sale... Company stocks are at $7.90 right now and I've seen em at $55 before

If I was sitting on any money Id damn sure be buying some ****.... now is the time to buy. thumb.gif

I did buy a bunch of stuff today after lunch. Nothing to brag about just some stuff that looks CHEAP. I used up my margins releveraging.
I still believe we are on a Death March. Sure we got a pull back this afternoon, but we will see a close with a 7 handle on it.

Market aside we need something to make this government and people spend some money, and I bet its going to be war.

funny thing to me is... its all MEDIA and Market driven for the common joe. Alot of folks without money do not watch the stock market AT ALL, but they are whoooo and eeeeeew in because you can read a newspaper, look at a TV or walk down the street with out "the economy this" or that.

If you had no media exposure and werent sweating your 401k, average joe America should be stoked as **** the gas prices are down and creeping lower.

Its funny how we create our own perceptions of how terrible life is off the ****in stock market. I mean seriously yes that money is for "future" use or goals whatever, we all know on a timeline that **** comes back around, so relax and take advantage of all the people dropping prices and trying to motivate buyers. I havent seen anything about huge job cuts or anything, so day to day life hasnt changes for the worse. As long as AirMed keeps on keeping on **** has gotten easier on me day to day... gas prices dropped and everyone is in "sale" mode. Life is cheaper. laughing1

Whirpool here is cutting over 400 jobs. Just saw that yesterday.

Unemployment market was UP a lot in Sept. That is the real indicator of recession to me. It jumped up a lot in Sept and will do so again in Oct. But I am loving cheap gas. $3.15 here!

We've been cutting jobs every quarter for the past year so far... a couple of thousand here, a thousand there, its scary in the telecom sector. If its not fear of a surplus, then its fear of a strike.

You are trying to draw too many parallels from this "crash" and the 1930's "crash" Yes, WWII was THE reason for the economic boom of the 40's and 50's, but we are IN a war right now. The problem is, the American people have not been asked to sacrifice anything because of it.

Gas, rubber and metal rationing? Are you kidding? Can you imagine that? Millions of men fighting abroad on 2 fronts? Man, it is quite different.

One major difference with this crash from the 30's is how much the govt. is getting involved DURING the crisis. I don't like the socialist leanings at all. I say let the MFer crash and lets figure it all out afterwards.

Gas was 2.90 at the flyin J today...

No, we are not looking for a war with China or Russia. Not that we would not hand anyone their asses in a no-holds-barred WWII type war, it is just not feasable with today's trade IMO. China is just as reliant on us as we are on them. Russia? Meh. We are not going over there to fight. Not anytime soon. Them's white folks. The US don't like fightin white folks :D
