First of all I would like to make things clear. This jeep had a lot of booty fab on it and a lot BDrake didn't even know about. Couldn't see it, etc. However I don't know who did the work so don't get mad about the pictures I post. :****: .

The project: 4-Link Rear, Dovetail, and Build Cage

Started on the Rear 4 Link. In the beginning I was just doing the 4-link. So I started off cutting the rear frame off. And It was amazing what was holding it together. So at this point I was going to offset the frame rails in 6" on each side. Clean the Frame up and weld it back in.

Notice the detail in work. Not my work this is the rear frame removed......

Close up.... Notice how well they join the square tubing to the stock frame at the rear bumper.

There was a rear anti-wrap bar and it tied into the side of the stock frame. They actually made a descent bracket but failed to weld the top of it to the frame. This was the results.

Notice I have welded the large cracks up and was going to plate it with 3/16 plate however BDrake has decided to go with a Dovetail in the rear and I will be removing a lot of the rear tub. I will bend tubing for the rear frame rails at this point. I really wanted to do this to begin with and glad he decided to go this route.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

Here is the transition piece I made to offset the frame rails in 6 " on each side.

Rear Frame Rails Cleaned Up. Also I have already narrowed them in this picture.

Frame Rails Welded Back On.. The transition box is made up of 1/8th dimple died for strength with 2" dom connecting both sides. the inside top is plated with 1/4" and all joining sides will have 1/4" as well. Can't be too strong.

To bad all this has to come back out. But I enjoy this stuff and it will look much sweeter tubed out.

I am reserving the spaces below to add more pictures along the way. I am currently waiting on the rear axle truss to come in. I will be using 1 1/4 qa rod ends and 1 1/4 johnny joints. I have already got those here. Also he will be running 2.5 Sway Away Air Shocks. I got the axle cleaned up and ready to start fabbing up the 4-link.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

Alright I got the frame rails cut of and boxed back in. Also got some tubing bent up as well. I got one side of the rear tub cut out and the fender welded down to it. I also added the back corners on just for looks now. I wanted to get some opinions with them on. BDrake what do you think?

I added blue panters tape so you can see the lines. Let me know how you like the back corners. I hope to get the passenger side rear tub done by Monday.

No joke, I can't believe you are gonna backhalf an 8. Just bob the bed and rock out. I love bobbed 8's.

I agree some would hate the idea. And at all cost I am going to tuck fender wells and all in and then weld the back corners back on. It is going to look slick when finished. The rear tub will keep the same look but of course be brought in. I got it cut up last night and I will get a good picture of how the rear is going to look once finished. Today I plan on cutting the rear frame rails off and hopefully the truss will come in so I can start linking it.

Why bob and 8 if you wouldn't dovetail it? I am a little confused. It had already been bobbed a little from the looks of it. The rear corners had been welded on and the back piece under the tailgate was welded back on. Anyone know if this has been bobbed a few inches?

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

yea im pretty sure when kevin had it it was bobbed. I remember it being silver and the back being black :****:

yea it looked cool bobbed but i wanted some wheelbase and i was gonna have to compcut it so i decided to just go ahead and dovetail it...i think it will look good dovetailed the way josh is gonna do it thumb.gif

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

Yea the owner that had it before Robert at Dixie ended up with it, had bobbed it. He is the one that did a lot of the work that wasnt already done to it, but considering he was doing his own work, by himself since he was like 13 yrs old I would say that that aint too bad.
The bobbed and tailed Scrambler is gonna look awsome BTW :woot: :****: .

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build
