• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

bead locks

I have been running Inchworms beadlock screws for almost 2 years now. I have been VERY pleased and it only cost me $80 for Double beadlocks all the way around.

You can read about them on Pirate.

diy is do it yourself? can i use my non bead lock rim? im assuming so. i like to support my local shop and should be heading down for some 30 spline longs and hub gears. ill most likely add a set of 4 bead lock kits to that order.

I hered that the Pro comp rock crawler wheels cannot be converted to bead locks if they require reverse tire mounting.

yes be very very careful with reverse centered rims. most cannot be beadlocked. it depends on how much drop is in the drop center portion of the rim. there is a reverse centered wheel that can be because they made the drop center a much smaller diameter so the tire can barely be streched over it.

it is not the rockcrawler rims...:eeek:

You can use any wheel, as long as you can weld.

wrong reverse centered wheels are not beadlockable except one manufacturer...well you can weld the beadlock on just cannot ever mount a tire on it...using the beadlock. be carefull on what you get.

Wouldn't that be a bummer to go through all that welding and money to find out you could't mount the tires.:puke: You could always have the inside bead locked but that would just be silly.:redneck:

yes yes it would....trailready cut them off and modified the rims so they could be used at a cost a little more that the rims originally were.:redneck:

wasnt me but was done at my shop...

i could explain it in a few seconds with a quick sketch...

here goes...

the area of a rim that is the smallest diameter. its where you put the tire into to, strech it over the outer rim. so when you first mount the tire you put the edge into the drop center then start streching it over the rim.

on a reverse centered rim the rim is mounted to the center section backwards. so this drop center is on the other side of the rim. when you put the tire into the drop center it is much farther away from the side of the rim being streched over and physically it is impossible to strech with serious damage to the sealing area of the tire.

now if this drop center is small enough it will allow enough strech minus the dots needed to hold place.

kinda like the rough sketch

dont know that much just know its not the rim to beadlock.... scott has the dimensions of some reverse centered rims that "will work".

there is a thread on pirate i think started by scott at rockstomper that explains it all in depth way back in the thread. look in the vendor section under DIY beadlocks kits...

i believe the wheels i have are rockcrawlers made by im not sure. i bought them through 4wheelparts about 7 years ago. hopefully these arnt the ones you are talking about. maybe i will just take one with me when i go down to see bobby.
