Best Propane and Mixer for built Ford 429

Buddy at Alternative Fuels helped me with this setup.

I should have the blue prints soon and dyno results.

Pro Comp makes a low rise dual quad intake for the 429/460 but I would go with the adapter thingy. One throttle body to deal with.

you still have to adjust fuel settings on both mixers.

to me a dual quad intake would be nicer, since its lower profile and gives you the option to run progressive linkage between the mixers. might allow you to not use as much fuel.

thumb.gif i think it was an OHG450 mixer... like i said, not that much bigger... not enough.

There was a local guy here running 1 OHG450 with 2 regulators/converters on a dodge 408 stroker. he could control the 2nd reg with an elec lockout. Was fairly conservative with fuel, but could flip on the 2nd reg and open it up when needed.

Ill be interested to see how that lockout does with the stroked BB. They dont pull much vacuum. i would switch to elec or none at all.

Also, if you have issues with regulators freezing, try plumbing them in series. Have seen this issue a few times when heater hoses are teed the coolant isnt forced to pass through the regulator.

Did you ever run the motor on the single mixer? If so what hp was gained by adding the second? I would love to do this to my BBF 473 someday.

We supplied the system in the photos for the Bronco. You could go to a dual quad manifold but you will only gain about 1-1/2" of additional clearance. With a single base plate it is much more effective cost wise. There is no need for another intake manifold, throttle body or linkage. Both mixers can fit under one 14" air filter assembly that we have available. A single Holley base plate will flow 900 cfm. Generally one mixer will become the primary one and handle most of the low rpm duties even though they are both the same. This way there is no chance of an uneven distribution and running some cylinders lean at low rpm.
Let me know if I can help.
