What is the best winch for the money? Info needed... Buy one in a week or 2 so see what everyone else's experience has been with winches.

My CJ came with an 8274 and I loved that winch. Its super fast, but requires a good amount of space for mounting it.

hit up Essentially Offroad and ask about the Warn VR series - just installed one on my truck and its really quiet and fast - I have a rough country on my buggy and the Warn is a lot better winch for only a little more money

find a used 8274, fastest winch you'll find and pretty easy to work on too

That's good advice if you want a badass winch. I picked up a functioning, but old 8274 (for $300) to build up for my ECORS Bronco. Plan is to put the 9.5xp motor, or 12k lb industrial motor on it, and replace the solenoid pack with a heavy duty solid contactor, relube, and rebushing it.

Had a 8274 I just sold. Didn't have no balls and it took up so much room. Thanks for the input. Just ordered a VR10,000s

Good thing your putting a winch on it, your going to need it to keep up!I thought I was going to have to remount mine to the rear for you to drag you along, you just saved me some work thanks man!

We will see. I could surprise u ...Remember I not running 46"m like u. But the 40"ltbs bit good...

??? wow ???

It was it wouldn't pull his jeep up a small ledge in slick hollow at summertown.

Trust me, it wasn't the design then. Might have been motor/solenoid/connections. But that 8274 is the most durable, pullingest sonofabitch on the planet.

Don't forget that its a speedy son of a gun too.
