Buggy build "Indecision"

Well this is where I currently am. Building my power plant. 6.0 lq4. I'm gonna add 5 and make it an lq9.

Gettin there. The block is bored .030 over, crank is polished and ready to go, lq9 rebuild kit with Pistons ready and waiting, heads will be done tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get the short block together tomorrow.

Me too. We have to figure out how to adapt Jeremy's dyno flywheel to the ls flywheel. He has a 5.3 we need to dyno as well. This motor was an lq4 that I've swapped to an lq9. It's a little easier on the later model lq4's because they also come with the floating pin rods like the lq9. That's basically the only difference between the two, one has flat top piston and the other has a dish.

Yup. They are actually really good heads. Flow the same as the 243 and 799 heads but have a little bigger combustion chamber. I was boring anyway so I bumped my compression up with the Pistons.

This is a very budget minded build. I would have preferred to not rebuild but this was a motor that I sent out and turned out to have an issue. Had to make good on it so its my baby. Chuck a pile of money in the scrap pile or put more into it and make it what you want?? I figured it best to turn lemons into lemonade. I'll have more in it than I could've bought one for but at least I'll know exactly what's in it and who did it.

Finished getting the block cleaned up and painted. Also got the mains fit and the thrust tolerance set. Crank is now in and hopefully will have the short block together in a day or two. Glad it's at Jeremy's engine shop. My garage spent the last 3 days as a covered pond. So much cleanup.

I never understood why Chevy used to paint their engines orange. That's the ugliest **** ever. I paint all my motors black. No ford blue no Chevy orange and damn sure no Pontiac..........whatever that color is, Blue green metallic aqua bug guts :dunno:
