:rolf: :rolf: :rolf: :rolf: I'm pretty confident that won't be an issue, but that's also just another reason in the hat for me not wanting to spend more than about $3k-ish.

Also, I read 12-14 months is the average time folks stay engaged, which will be perfect, so her and her son can move in with me. Gotta give that a trial run before I buy the cow Lol. Something in her divorce papers prevents her and her son staying together with mommy's boyfriend (me) until she is at least engaged. I know, previous divorce could be a red flag in most cases, but I know for a fact she got fawked over by her ex husband, he was running around her. I grew up around this gal, actually dated a little in high school, she's good people. One of the few situations where the female got fawked over and wasn't the crazy one.

Found the ring I wanted today... 1.03 carat solitaire on a thin pave white gold setting (tiny diamonds down each side). Center diamond of great color and cut, original price $5k, I asked for cash price and he said $4,500. I still feel like he could do better judging by other rings I've priced, but fawk I didn't plan on spending that much and haven't really found a better deal (in person). This ring shopping **** is way worse than vehicle shopping! I'm weary of buying online, bc I had rather see it in person first.

Friend of mines dad used to be in jewelry business. Most jewelry like that is marked up about 300% I'm sure they can do better...

That's what I thought. I am gonna go in there and make the ultimatum with $3500 cash. The only kicker is, the diamond is better quality than most online for comparable pricing, but I feel like $3500 for it is a deal for me and good price for him...we shall see. I'm tired of looking at the fawkers. If he don't want to come down, I may swap out the pave setting for a solid white gold band to save nearly a grand. I kinda like the solid engagement ring band paired with pave wedding band look.

I've got a friend in Birmingham that will shoot you straight if you care to make a drive. Business name is Alabama Wholesale Diamonds. Nan and I have used him exclusively for over 20 years. I would be happy to go with you and make the introduction if you decide to.

John, I appreciate that! I will certainly keep that in mind if I can't work something out at our hometown jeweler. All my buddies have bought from this place and said he done them the same way, only came off just a little when cash sale was mentioned, but then they just flat out said this is what I'll give for it (another grand off) and he took it. I'm gonna go back and try that tactic and see what happens. If that doesn't work, I'd be interested in trying somewhere else. I called back to talk to him today about it but he is out until Tuesday. So I will go back then.

This is exactly what the one I'm looking at looks like. 1.03 carat round, 2mm pave setting.

But I also like the solid bands too with same diamond.

But having both bands pave style looks good too. Hard choice.

Ya wanna know what pisses me off?! Everytime I am on my phone or computer and ads pop up based on search history, it's fawking engagement rings! I gotta get on my laptop this weekend with the gf and search for a hotel in Gulf Shores and it's gonna pop up pictures of fawking rings for sale over to the side! Maybe I can log out of Google and it dismiss all those ads.

You would have to shop a lot for it to wipe out the porn ads you normally see. :flipoff1:

Yeah it went from "18 and Chubby" ads to rings after only a few days of ring shopping! :****:

Well I paid more than initially planned but got what I wanted her to have. Planning on giving it to her Saturday.

1.03 carat center stone, 0.23 carat total weight of small side stones, platinum setting. I think it looks great. Glad that **** is over with....lol.
