This summer I'm trying to take off work at least every other Sunday, my wife and I have been canoeing and kayaking a lot, where are some good places to float in Alabama?

Crazy horse (buffalo) in Waynesboro tn is good. So is shoals creek canoe run. I'm in Florence I always go to tn for kayaking.

Cypress Creek in Florence is good.

Bear Creek in Hackleburg is a good run.

Try the upper sipsey branch of Smith Lake where it meets Bankhead forest, super clean water with a few waterfalls pouring in.

A lot of people do the Locust Fork of the Warrior River. It's in the Blountsville, Cleveland, Nectar, Locust Fork area of Blount County....so it's not that far from you.

Our local favorite is blackwater, but it has to rain before you can float it, we floated the lower part of the sipsey fork last Sunday, we will have to hit up the upper end sometime.

Try the upper sipsey branch of Smith Lake where it meets Bankhead forest, super clean water with a few waterfalls pouring in.

That looks like a good spot to go. Never been up there.

There's a drop off point in the Cahaba at the end of my street, it's really good this time of year. Later at the end of summer it's more of a hike than a walk. It's in Leeds/Irondale.

I like Blackwater.. 5 Mile Creek seems like it would be good

One of the best floats is Village Creek take out at the big Alabama power plant. We put in at a bridge about 14-15 miles up..

Terrapin Creek is a good float.. The Cahaba River is a good float.. Sipsey.. the Coosa River from Jordan Dam to Wetumpka is good..

Alabama has some nice fishing and floating. Especially if you are willing to drive around a bit.
