I have one clevis that always comes loose. It is on Solo Buggy and it is the tie down on the front winch. After loosing about 4 clevis', I now put a wire tie on it. This works fine till I need to use it, forget to put the wire tie back, then loose the clevis.

Looking for ideas to secure the pin in the clevis that is reusable.

Any ideas?

Maybe a sleeve that pivots on the pin? Slides over the pin, then through the winch rope eyelet then pin threads into place. Maybe allow the eyelet to pivot without creating enough friction to turn the threaded pin?

Tractor supply sells large steel bushings like that, so does new holland, John Deere etc..

Just my off the cuff idea

get a pin thats a little longer than what comes with it, drill it, then use pull style cotter pin. I have one I'll try to post pic of. Also not sure if you tried this but I've never tightened my clevis on my front suck down. Someone told me long ago to never fully tighten a clevis pin. I've used this same clevis for 2 years and never lost it. I just tighten until it barely seats and go. Maybe worth a try.

Do you attach your rope to the clevis or pin?

The pin goes to the thimble on the winch rope.

I usually use a crescent wrench to snug up the pin. Of course that requires having one on hand to loosen it too.

Trying to not have to go to tool kit, that is where I get the wire tie.

Like that idea, I could cut a DOM sleeve.

What about putting silicon or RTV on the threads? It would create enough friction to keep it tight and still be able to loosen it without tools. Similar to a nylon lock nut but with a softer material.

I have what you need and will send pics tonight later, it is a lock that goes around the clevis and locks the pin they came on Moxy dump trucks.

I like this style.

Always easy to get apart and put together.

I also replace the "hair pin" clip pin with this style pin

Spread the clevis end that way when you screw the clevis together the tension from the gap will hold the clevis pin in place

I like that idea. Any idea what the name of the round pin is? Tried "hitch pin" and "quick pin" but those are not the correct terms.
