Thanks, but that looks like a 3/4" shaft, and only a 5/8" will go through the thimble on winch. However, what a great idea. I will draw up and make some of these on the Torchmate.
 
I just use this in a similar fashion as that last pic, just make sure the wire latch is deep enough to go through d-ring and pin hole

These are a bad idea winching, they can spread much easier than the style that scres together. Very much not reccomended.

I have a twisted one like this and have no complaints. I've pulled jeeps out and use it when winching. I even use it to tie my jeep down ocassionally. i have lost the little keeper pin once but that was my own fault. It was fairly inexpensive if i remember correctly too.
 
Depending on the diameter of the through home on your clevis, you could use a locking receiver hitch pin. After having a few clevis's walk off while on the trail, when I do use them, this is how I secure them
