CNC plasma table

We have had ours before they became involved heavily in the rock crawling scene and chose them based on talking with them and price for what we wanted and the ability to upgrade. In the first few weeks we had some glitches and they resolved everything over the phone w/o issue eventhough most of the problems were on our end since we were excited to try it out.
After introducing myself at Cedar City a year ago I actually received cell phone numbers from a few of the guys there for help if needed when the business was closed.
I think with anything you'll hear good and bad about it. I have only had access to one other 4x4 table and didn't like it because it was small, could have been the cats meow, but not what I wanted.

that sounds pretty good. I'm just curious if there are any nay sayers anywhere else. That was the only place i'd heard bad things about the Torchmate machines. Do you find yourself always correcting and having to re adjust, and always tweeking on it. Or did you get it dialed in and just click print now?

there was a thread on there where the guy was complaining that if it changed even 8 degrees in temp he had to calibrate for it. ever done anything like that? also still curious if you have the Z axis and voltage height control?

Currently do not have torch height control, It is set up with the manual control and normal torch. I have been considering the machine torch and arc height control, and maybe a plate marker.
95% of the material we use is 1/8" thru 3/8" pno, so with correct speed and not having long runs really close together together it typically isn't a problem with height. On thinner than 1/8", or long narrow pieces close together you can adjust the torch height with the handle, not the best, but works until we do the height control.

After the first couple of tweeks on the overall system, we have not had to really adjust anything. Some times we may change a cut speed if the tip is getting worn out, or we have changed material thickness from one run to another. We do have to adjust the torch height for the material thickness each time we put a new sheet on though, due to manual torch control.

is a 5x10 table overkill? where would you get a sheet that's 5x10? is it possible to load 1/4" 4x8 sheet without a forklift? Patrick, anything you ever had to turn down because the 4x8 was too small? Also is there anything else you would get you didn't get the first time? do you feel like you "need" a torch height control?

Never had call for anything bigger than a 4'x8' size.
Takes two people to load a 3/16" sheet, three to load 1/4", kinda awkward moving 365lbs of steel that size.
If you don't want to sit and watch thinner material, or worried about smaller parts not dropping through the slats and interfering with the torch, the height control is needed.

Thanks for all the information guys:beer: I'm thinking Torchmate seems to have the best customer service. They seem to go above and beyond to make sure people are happy, and have a lifetime free customer service/ tech help. Not to mention, they are involved in the industry. The get my official vote.
