comps for little guys???

Sucks I'll be outta town for the hpo comp :dunno:
How about a technical crawl? We had a rock race and that was fun, but technical driving would be sweet.

Pure timed on a hard rock crawl course?

Or cone style points based?

Trying to get an idea of what to do at GMP.

Honey Bee is usually good for spectators.

I don't know how "organized" people are expecting these comps to be?

I know for myself, I don't have any interest in running a multiple course, long drawn out competition...

I'd rather do something akin to street racing, everybody meet up at a time and place, have a start and finish line, and let everyone run.

I was thinking at GMP it would be cool to race up Razor back, and down Honey Bee or vice versa... That makes a loop so the start and finish could be at the same spot, and has easy access to the paved road.

Well that took off quickly haha. What about for the jeeps that have axle swaps and a cage though? That completely changes classes in the dirt riot races.

An event like king of the hill where the whole trail is open, fastest to the top. It can be split for tire sizes if needed.
I think the line up and run would be sweet... anyone can mash yer motor and climb non boulder filled trails fast, hard technical trails would even out the power/lack of power playing field so speak.

They are changing that rule for next season

We will be adding 4 cylinder and jeep class comps to our schedule next year. Nothing crazy but just good fun runs so everyone can get a taste of competition. We will run another 4 cylinder comp this year.

This is cool, watching grassroots racin come alive before your eyes :dblthumb:

yeah it is. The group i used to ride with did a friendly comp every year and I looked forward to it every year then the group kind of stopped riding and the comp stopped. Looks like the weepow guys are going to get a chance to show out soon.

Re:

We have one ride a year that's a benefit ride for the family of a buddy we lost to lung cancer. We always pick one trail and do short time trials. It's always good fun because anybody can run it and anybody could win it but then again we don't have the rigs up here in Ohio that yall have down there.

Will there be a pay out or is it for bragging rights?

I won $$$ on the first 4cyl comp. at AOP . I'm sure if there is interest it could drive that up. we need more racers and fans!!

Ideally we would like to a small entry fee with it being a 100% payback to top 5 positions and then donate a portion of the gate fees to the pot as well.

The King of the Hill comp was the OG comp in the south... good times were had.

Hale mtn def has some technical crawling trails. that would be spectator friendly.

Re:

This is true...let's get one going,
Piper took HPO by the horns, let's get one at Hale too.

What if this thing got teamed up and piggybacked SRRS? Personally, I can't see driving 6 hours each way for 3 hours of :tc woopow, so by extending the spectator experience by another couple hours, you'd get folks like myself to drive all that way. Plus, the event insurance, porta-shitters, concessions, and remaining bouncer crowd is already there, so by adding a couple small classes it's not hurting anything, it could only help the turnout. And I couldn't hang with the current SRRS buggies, but a 4cyl/V6 class I'd drag the rig out for!

have you looked at current competitor lists at the last srrs/arcs race ? When you have 40 racers and alternates it would further the chaos by adding another 20 or so racers.

the big buggies already take forever and crowd is ready to ride long before the race is finished.

when the opportunity to race (like hpo Halloween) is presented and 5-6 show up to race , where is the incentive to put the effort into future races ?

I agree.

I wasn't even thinking about a 4cyl comp as a spectator "event". Hell, not even really an event at all. More so "Hey you guys want to race up some rocks Saturday morning then go trail ride the rest of the day?"

I'm 100% all for that.

I get sick and tired of "corporate " wanting a piece of every damn thing in our hobbies.

Whooptie ****in do there's a raffle and I won some 30$ shocks and some grab handles.

We do this all the time when we ride. "Hey I got a beer says I can beat you to the top" kind of deal.
