Cummins Exhaust

2005 5.9 2500. No plans to boost power. Found some small rust holes in the exhaust, nothing that can't be repaired. But maybe use it as an excuse to upgrade? What is out there, can more power be realized just from exhaust? I prefer the truck not be any louder than it is. If I could make it quieter that would even be nice.

I have a a turbo back magnaflow on mine...just like Jimmy's and about 5 other local guys here have also run the same system. Works well, not sure how it compares to stock because mine had no muffler on it when I bought it. Seems to have a little better power and egt's should be a little bit lower...all standard reasons to run a bigger, smoother flowing exhaust.

Bending the internal baffles in the muffler. It's a "straight through" muffler with finger/cup baffles.

My MBRP muffler was built the same.

I read about the sound difference in installing the muffler with the baffles facing forward or rearward.

Ah, gotcha. I was thinking he meant to leave the pipe in there. Thanks.

We did a mbrp in place of the cat then a banks muffler on my friend's 05. No drone, sounded good, not loud at all, but not quiet like stock either. Only one muffler was way too loud for his taste.
