I need to cut a 3"x5" piece of 3/8" cutting board for a radar mount. My plexiglass mount cracked when I drilled through it and attached my radar base.

Will a blade for a jig cut it, or should I sawzall it and clean it up with a grinder. I think a circular saw is a bit much for this tiny application. UNLESS I can swing over and use my bro-in-laws table saw for a nice, clean, straight cut

Yeah a wood blade will work best. Try not to fly though it and get it hot, cause if it gets to hot it will melt right back together behind your cut.

Yeah had that issue on the plexiglass. I need to get to the store and get a board and get this thing done

I've cut it before. I used a jigsaw and it melted behind the blade but it wasn't a big deal to make another pass or two to get through. I beveled the edge with grinder and I was happy (until it broke because it wasn't properly supported).

FWIW, I wouldn't cut it on my tablesaw because I wouldn't want it to gum up the blade with melted plastic.

use a plasma :flipoff1:

Better yet... victor wrench!

after you're done, if you have access to a router that'll make the edges look piiiiiimp! :eat:

I need a router to do the edges of my skiddy plates ...... Dollar you have a router ?? Lil Help over here, wanna come over and make plastic stinky laughing1 :drinkers:

Thanks a bunch. wood jig saw blade and my unsteady hand cut it like butter. 8.5"x11" cutting board for $2 made for 5 plates I can give to other riders that might want a cheap radar mount. Granted the RAM mount was ~$25, still beats 70+ others sell them for.

BTW, unsure if the the wheeling crowd knows about RAM mounts http://www.ram-mount.com/, but they make them for about anything and prices are reasonable for smaller parts. I am sure notebook and camcorder mounts add up fast since they have to be more vibration friendly.

I only need the same mount I used on the radar plate for my XM, but like am idiot I forgot to order the parts. Not a big deal as I am still need a spare power cord, and make an antenna mount IF I even decide to run XM on the bike or just use my MP3.

Enough ****? GPS, XM, Radar, behind that on the fairing is a 12V plug, Grip heater switch and a digital volt meter. ::)
