This is a REALLY fun rig to wheel! I was nothing short of stunned and amazed at how well it did and how cool it was to watch roll through the trails. It IS time to throw some tube in it. Needs it as much as Darby's Yota does:redneck::haha: Just wish the whole crew was out to watch it's maiden voyage:beer:

My first ZJ was a 98 with the 5.2. I rolled it three days after I got the uniframe fully plated and long arms installed. Insurance paid me out and to this day I wish I bought a tow rig and trailer as opposed to replacing the Grand. I ripped the doors and hatch off it and used a hi-lift to "fix" the roof. Took it out once and wheeled Evans before scrapping out the body. The doors make up a significant chunk of the overall weight of the rig. With them gone the ZJ is a completely different animal on the trail.

V8 + light unibody = fun, capable trail rig.

Need a locker for that 44a Mark?

Then four days later....

Even without the doors it is important to note that the "hoop" in the unibody between the front and rear doors is pretty strong. This roll was at a decent speed and I emerged completely unhurt, all 6 feet 4 inches of me. One last picture of my current ZJ showing the deformation of my doors around the door pillar portion of the unibody.

All four of my doors still work and seal well. My ZJ will put up with Reiter level savagery all weekend and drive home tracking dead straight with zero vibes at 75 mph with only a finger on the wheel the whole way. It is still quiet inside with no rattles in the dash. Grand Cherokees are great rigs. Too bad they got stiffed from the factory in the axle department.

The fisrt trip with it I took it to Reiter and had a blast.

The 2nd trip, I broke the CV on the front driveline. Easy fix. It'll see the trails some time again.

Now....it rests on the side of the garage. No regrets.:awesomework:

Yes. I was going to dump a $1000 into it (cage, non-CV axle shafts and driveline, rear locker install) plus all the called-in-favors needed to accomplish such a task.:squirrel:

So I said screw it! A Toyota is the better choice now that I have a little extra $$$ sitting around.

I'll keep the Grand Cherokee though. Then I'll have 3 wheelers (to maintain):redneck::eeek::booo:
