Hand tools--thats just funny....

I have no idea.

They did a couple years ago.

:flipoff:

Try not to commit suicide. Those things can bring the suck if the joints are at all seized into the housing.

SHIZA!!! those things are probably OEM from '91 and with the abuse and lack of grease i've added to them, should be fun.....:mad:

it sounds as though safety glasses and a bullet proof screen are in order.

jezzz what a bitch the top balljoints can be I bent one of those harbor frieght ones trying to get just one off,then found out it makes it easyer if you drill out the ball joint before you use the press:mad: good luck on it anyway you do it it's gonna suck:awesomework:

Happy Gilmore

I know I already told you this, Aaron, but here goes...

I actually did a couple hours of quasi research on the question of D30 to D44 for Jason. I found that each had about an equal amount of positives and negatives for each. Now, do remember that his came with the vehicle, so he has no cost associated with it in the first place. Anyway, the "Cherokee" forums and websites I found were full of info on why NOT to do a D44 conversion on the Cherokee. First, the ring and pinion are far superior on the D30, the u-joints are the same (late model), it is high pinion (clearance, d-shaft angle, the obvious, etc...). They "rate" the D30 centersection to be stronger, anyway. But, once you factor in the $1000 (!) for a hub conversion for the 30, things start to get fuzzy...

And this is coming from a guy that used to think the D30 was absolute trash! Hey, even the "JeepSpeed" desert racing team very much prefers the D30... and they are running stroked 4.0's and 37's...:;

so you're saying that the dana 44 that is in my LUV is weaker than my dana 30? aren't you just talking about the dana 44 from a jeep that is all sorts of ass backwards and has a 44 center section and 30 outers or something like that?

Sorta... You have, by this time, done more research than I have, but from what I have READ and HEARSAY from some cherokee folk, is that, yes, the D30 gearset is stronger and superior to the D44 gearset. I believe that the D44 axle as a whole is better than the D30, though. :;

I love it when you get all emotional...:flipoff:

They use drugs much...? :eeek:

HP 44 blows that argument out of the water...

as far as the cherokee d44 not being better than a d30 is probably a wash one way or another. The d30 gear set may be stronger since it's a hp but are the cherokee d44 hp or lp. If lp, the d30 r&p may be stronger since everything is running on the correct side of the teeth.

That is all I was saying... I guess I am just saying that I have been proved wrong over the years about the D30. They are not as "bad" as I once thought they were. :redneck:
