I have a chevy dana 60 It is welded and I can't turn in a forty acre field. I would like to put a locker in but don't know which way to go. Lock Right is cheaper and I've heard they are holding up great. But Detroit has always been a good locker. I need an open carrier to run the lock right and don't have one. So I'll be buying the carrier plus the locker and have to put it together. So the price might not be a difference. Need some opinions thumb.gif

I have owned to Detroit's one in a 44 and the one in the 60 I am running now. Never had any issues at all - that's not to say it might grenade next time out but so far has been a good one. the lockrites are a good deal cheaper however.

I will never buy another detroit. I've broken 3 of them in my front 60. I've been running the same lockright for a year with no issues. When I do have problems with it, it has a two year warranty and they will replace it whether it is broken or just worn out.

lockright....2 year no question warrenty...I'm getting about 18 months out of em before they start to slip. Broke many shafts and never wiped one out, broken 3 detroits in the past when shafts broke.

I have (3) Detroits. Front and Rear in my Bronco with 5:13's and 18x39 Mickeys. No problems. Got a Detroit in the front of my buggy with 5:13's and 355 small block. No problems. thumb.gif

I have heard bad things about detroit's but I have never had an issue with them. I had them front/rear of my old jeep and front/rear of my current buggy.

I run a lockrite in my front 60 with 44s and a BBC. No problems at all and I don't cut it any slack. I believe they are made by richmond gear.

I've broke one detroit in my front 60. Went with an arb and no problems yet. Detroits bring the suck.

Maybe the reason you guys have'nt had a problem is because you don't wheel as hard as most do. :flipoff1:

i know alot of people with big motors runnin lockrites in the front and dont think they've had any problems...but if you have the cash, get the detroit...

No, I believe that when I am already at the top and your still trying, no need to beat it like a "dead horse"

Try YOUTUBE, greg on cable hill, for starters, then follow up with brian cole on cable, then look for "chrome on cable hill" maybe then "superman anywhere on the earth". I think you get the point. :flipoff1:

If you gotta by carrier and all that and are considering a detroit, why not ARB ? Thats what all the guys run on the "real rocks"

Id love to have an ARB up front... maybe one day. Im still paying off my sticky dubs laughing1

Talked with Keith Bailey today. He said he stopped using Detroits in 60's 3 years ago. To many breaking..... He has been running the lock rite with no big troubles. I had already ordered a lock rite so I am good to go. I have the money to go with a detroit and ran that in my last 60. but if I am breaking stubs and hubs I think I might break a detroit. :dunno: . I will try this and see what gives next.

My ARB is in the rear because it had cutting brakes on it and was easy enough to unlock and pull a handle and turn. I don't even know that my Detroit up front is even there when I am going. I think that with the Detroit in the front, front wheel drags are easier because both wheels are pulling instead of one putting all the stress on one shaft only. I have also had my shafts Cryo treated along with my CTM's and have no problem at all. My junk is now going on 4.5 years with no carnage. (knock on wood) thumb.gif
