well i run a detroit up front... but i also have alloy shafts... i wonder if the people w/ problems are using stock shafts and they are breaking, thus damaging the detroit??? i dont know, but seems like alot of us w/ black and rust colored bling are not breaking detroits....

I was running a detroit with chromos. After breaking my 2nd detroit I switched to a lockright. Been running that for about 6 months or so. Mine is the blue 4runner with 47's. Mine broke from breaking chromo shafts. My bil broke his when he broke a lockout.

I've been running yukons and spicer forged joints when breaking detroits. One broke as a result of a shaft, one from a lockout a while back (now running flanges), and the other broke all by its lonesome. They could have been repaired, but it costs as much to fix them as it did to buy a lockright.

Travis did you ever break those Dynatrac hubs?

Haven't broke one on mine since putting them in. I did snap a cromo stub, no lockright or dyntrac hub problem. Overall I've probably broken a full set( both sides) of cromos, a random stub or two, 4 hi9 R&P's, 1 hp60 R&P, one LP9 R&P, snapped one LP9 pinion, worn out two lockrights, but never broken one. Other beauty of the LR is being able to replace it on my trailer by pulling just one shaft out, most of the guys I ride with run them and we keep a spare among us.

Damn Greg, Why didn't you just buy some 300m shafts and not worry about it anymore. As much as you guys ride seems like it would be worth the piece of mind.

Cause then my weak link moves to the R&P which I have broken and would break again, I can change a (warrentied) shaft in less than 30 minutes and keep on riding. Keep in mind this is over the course of 3 years 2-3 weekends of riding just about every month, I really wish I had a freakbng hour meter on my buggy I know it would blow some minds, well maybe not Travis's.

I'd need rocks and 47 spline to have it indestructable, I've got it now where it really doesn't break that often unless I'm doing something that I know might break it. With the amount of coin that got dropped on it this last go around, I bet ya see me a little more conservative...oh and we got a kid on the way, so I got to curb the jackassing just a bit.
