So I picked up some DIY rings a year or so ago and was going to weld them on to some 10" wide rims I have, but I am now thinking this will be way to wide?

I will be running (in the near term) 38.5x16.50x15 so you think I will be ok with the 10" rims or should I find some 8"?

Any one have a tire machine I can use to dismount the tires?

Same thing I run----the 10's will be fine scott--The one and only time I blow an inner bead is at 1psi in rutty snow going fast--and when the bead goes I just hit it with air and the bead pops right back on :awesomework:

Cool looks like I will be using what I got!

Thanks Fordfrk06 for the dismount:kissmyass:

Any who, I cleaned up the paint around the upper lip on the rim so I wouldn't get any porosity in the weld, set the welder for 3/16 to 1/4 thick steal and went to town.

I started to mount one of the tires, the bucket idea works great but having a big screw driver helps as well. I need to paint the outer ring so this is as far as I was able to get today.

The guy I bought the rings from gave me both the thread-serts and nylon locking nuts, which should I use?

Serrated nuts are only Grade 2 if it matters to you. I used grade 8 nylocks (s dashes along the top of the nut).

whens the last time you broke a grade 2 nut. also they are 3/8" and a ton on those beadlocks, you will never know different but you can hold them with your hand and hit them with the air gun, no wrench needed inside the rim

I didn't say it wouldn't work :redneck: . I used to sell fasteners, so I went all out with grade 8 thru-hard washers and nylocks... :masturbanana[1]:

Well I was worried about the out ring coning in on me, so I added an inner ring. First I bent up some 3/16x1/2 flat bar, then just worked it around the inside of the ring, then welded it all up just a nice small bead.
