Do people make money as a driver?

Don't think Rob has much to do with it. thumb.gif I know for fact that Rick, Tracy and a few other don't make enough to cover a whole season, A couple of years ago I thought they did also but the deeper we get into this you find out there isn't much money to go around. Until we get these comps. into big metro areas and can get 15,000 fans there the big compines will not touch us, sucks but just the way it is. Also for you guys wanting to get in touch with the people on the know and go. When you go to some of the bigger shows they have classes to sit in on, I would go to them, lots of hands to shake there if you know what I mean thumb.gif When you call a company you are just a voice on the end of a phone line, after they meet you and you have a few beers together or run trails toghether all day they now KNOW who you are and what kind of guy you are, in the end a much better deal. Just my .02 worth, kinda sound like I know what I am talking about :dunno:

Ive talked to several vendors and your right, they dont know or really care from an outta the blue phone call, which I totally understand.

EX: PSC Im on the phone and ask about racer discount, contingency's or any of that.. Tell them Im running XRRA East this year and all. Not only do I get a no ( totally expected and Im cool with that ) but then after I order the part # I wanted hes like , so what kinda truck is this going on.. LOL Im like, no man, XRRA Buggy .

Unless you "know" of or personally the person your talkin to on the phone, It all blends together when you answer phones take order repeat all day. I understand it, Ive been in aviation parts for 9 years total now and deal with Vendors and Customers on a daily basis.

I don't have a shop to promo, or really a need to make connections. Kelly can ride those coat tails. I'm going to race this season for the sake of the "adrenalin rush".
I am excited as always about meeting new people, I just don't have an agenda about it. So when I say have fun, I really mean have fun.
We'll see what this season holds, and costs and maybe do it another year or so. Just depends on my money, time, and buggy holding out. Of course, who doesn't like sponsors that give dough or parts or other perks to help differ the cost? I went into this without grandios thoughts that there were dollar signs in the future. Mike pointed out the pitfalls I see with it. No spectators, well no in relaationship to other motorsports. More spectators equals more dollars. Thats why I was paying special attention to that arena XRRA promo deal that happened a few weeks ago. The crowd went wild on the rolls, but what seperates XRRA in a stadium from a "Tough Truck" comp?

Lot of rambling, I look forward to this year and parting with my $'s, the beers I'm going to drink, the people I'm going to meet, and moves I should have made. Hopefully kelly and I dont end up hating each other by the end of the season for telling each other to do the wrong ****.
